Hi. Would it be possible to add an option to artist pictures that uses album artist rather than artist? The problem is this...

* I have an album by Morse/Portnoy/George (It could be any multiple artist group also with it's own group name).
* In the artist field for the album information, I put: Neal Morse; Mike Portnoy; Randy George
* In the album artist field, I put Morse/Portnoy/George

This, I think, is the correct way to do this as it means I can find all three artists separately in the column browser and can see when certain artists are guests on other artists albums.

However. The artist picture panel doesn't look for the band Morse/Portnoy/George. It looks for the first artist in the artist field. So all I get are pictures of Neal Morse.

Oh, and the same happens with artist biography. It only shows information for Neal Morse.

Hope that makes sense? I looked for options in settings but for the artist picture setting it says "No Options"

Or... Is there another way to achieve this?

Thanks

You can copy/paste pictures using the Artist view, so if you have or find one with the three together, copy it and then paste it into the Morse/Portnoy/George panel.

Thanks, but I've tried that. If I paste pictures of the band Morse/Portnoy/George into the artist picture window, it then attributes all those band pictures to Neal Morse, solo artist. So I get Band pictures for that individual artist. This is the exact problem. The Artist Picture is based solely on individual artists, not album artists.

Thanks though.

You'll want to put Morse/Portnoy/George as the Display Artist and then have the individual members as artists using the artist splitter.

Here's an example using an image of artist splitter I found on Google Images.  (Obviously use your own artists and "Artist" or their actual roles in the right column, I just didn't feel like uploading another picture of the artist splitter when there are dozen online already)

Then, when you paste images, it'll save them to the group name.  I think the searching function will still also find individual pictures, though.

That worked. Thanks, I'd never even looked at that dialogue. MB has amazing depths. Now to find the thousand or so albums that I'd Previously labelled the other way. Hey Ho.

Thanks again.
