Hi,

Does "Analyze Volume" do as it say; "Analyze", or does it also modify/adjust the tracks' volume?

What is the difference between "on track basis" and "on album basis"?

And what is the meaning of the 2 ticks: "alert when... " and "calculate a single... "?

In "Convert Format", what does the "Permanently Adjust Volume" mean?

And what is the difference between "tracks to same value" and "albums to same value"?

Thanks

does it also modify/adjust the tracks' volume?

what does the "Permanently Adjust Volume" mean?

These two go together. If it's not permanent, then it just sets a replay gain tag that can be removed or ignored.

Album means it analyzes volume over the whole album to determine the adjustment. Tracks means it just analyzes the track.

@psychoadept Thanks. But I still don't understand. Just to be clear, the "permanently adjust volume" exist in the "convert format" tool. It is not in the "analyze volume" tool. So how do they go together?

And I still don't know if the "analyze volume" tool adjusts the volume or not.

What is the difference if it analyze the track only or the whole album?

Permanently adjust actually rewrites the audio at the new volume. Not recommended for lossy files (such as mp3), but maybe necessary for syncing if the player doesn't support replay gain. All other "analyze volume" functions write replay gain tags and don't mess with the source audio.

Track vs album means it's looking at a different overall volume range. Different tracks on an album will keep their relative volume differences.
