Crossfade function does not work, no matter which options I set.

Thanks.

For all tracks, or specific tracks?
Download the latest MusicBee v3.5 or 3.6 patch from here.
Unzip into your MusicBee directory and overwrite existing files.

All tracks.

Also, I'm on 3.3.7310 (win10), fresh installation of both.

Hmmm ... I don't use crossfade, but I enabled it with the same settings as in your screenshot and it's working for me. I'm on the most recent patch (3.3.7332 P) but I don't recall Steven doing anything with crossfade in the recent past. I also don't recall anyone else raising a similar issue.

Some miscellaneous questions that come to mind...
- what format are the tracks?
- does crossfade work when changing tracks of the same format?
- are you using the Store installation or the Installer or Portable?
- what is the full path to MusicBee.exe?
- and where are your music tracks stored?
- is there anything in the error log around the time the tracks switch (help > support > view error log)

I seriously doubt it's your security software, but just for the hell of it, try white-listing the entire MB directory in your AV software.

- what format are the tracks?
mp3 and flac.

- does crossfade work when changing tracks of the same format?
The crossfade is "partially" functioning, I couldn't notice before because it's so fast, probably 100ms or so, but it's not honoring the settings that I check (for example, 3 seconds), and even if I disable completely in the settings, it's still doing the fast crossfade anyway.

- are you using the Store installation or the Installer or Portable?
Installer 3.3.7310

- what is the full path to MusicBee.exe?
C:\Program Files (x86)\MusicBee\MusicBee.exe

- and where are your music tracks stored?
Internal and usb hard drives, it doesn't work with both.

- is there anything in the error log around the time the tracks switch (help > support > view error log)
No, it's empty.

I seriously doubt it's your security software, but just for the hell of it, try white-listing the entire MB directory in your AV software.
Just disabled it completed, tested again, to no avail.

Well, that's pretty discouraging.  :-)

Have you tried a longer crossfade? And increasing the fade in new track time?

Does it work if you go from mp3 to mp3? Or flac to flac?

Note that I don't have a solution even if we can find a common cause. But your answers might help Steven when he has time to take a look at it.

The only other thing I can think of is to download and install the portable version. Ideally on a partition other than C:. If you only have C:, put it in a newly created C:\MusicBee. Don't add your entire library to it. Just a few tracks to use for testing. Download the portable from the downloads web page and then apply the latest patch - see my sig.

yes/yes, as high as 10 seconds...

no/no.

Did exactly what you said, to no avail. It's the same behavior, no matter what settings I configure, still no crossfade... I mean, the default crossfade only, not what's configured in the options.

Sorry to say this, but I'm out of ideas at the moment. Perhaps someone else will think of something. Otherwise you'll have to wait until Steve has time to look into it.

I just noticed this on the GoneMad site. Not that you're using GoneMad, but maybe it's a clue to what's happening in your case. The original post was from a user asking why some tracks don't crossfade. The reply here is from the GMMP developer:
Quote
gmmp will not crossfade between tracks that are a different sample rate or channel count (mono / stereo). I would guess thats the issue. You could confirm by checking what the sample rate / channel count is on the files

I think MB resamples everything to 44.1 if you have crossfading enabled.

Seems very close to the issue I reported on feb 13th
https://getmusicbee.com/forum/index.php?topic=30827.msg170782#msg170782
I need to investigate my sample rates and mono/stereo settings ( but my EQ setting is always output as mono) as I beleive it is liked to the music files

Crossfade function does not work, no matter which options I set.

What soundcard are you using?
And what settings for it under Preferences > Player  output: and sound device: ?
