Need help on genres

How do I add broad genre categories to albums? I have alot of albums which have unknown genre category and I can't see where to edit it.

Also how do i make the genre column to the left show like this:

50 Electronic (number indicates amount of albums ) (-> genre category - this is not actually shown)
30 Drum n bass  (->subgenre)
10 Techno
10 House

20 Hip Hop
10 Grime
10 Instrumentals

Are you talking about the column or thumbnail browser on the left? In the thumbnail browser, you can get pretty close to what you want if you display Genre and group by Genre Category.
