tagging tool tagged songs with wrong artist name

i used the tagging tool to update song tags, now songs are tagged with with different artist names. how do i fix it?

revert to the backups you made of your files

You might be able to use the file names, if those haven't changed, or scan the audio signature to identify the files. Unless that's what caused the problem in the first place, in which case you should probably investigate further to see which info is actually correct.

Or just open up the Tag Editor and change them to what you want them to be.

i don't remember making one and if it somehow did it automatically, then am sure it's gone cos i reset my pc after

What patch? I'm just talking about general features. But for patching you would need to switch to the regular or portable version found on this site.
