If you follow UTF8 recommendations, a BOM should never be a problem.
If it's there you can simply ignore it.
Is simply not true.
And I have stated on the thread you posted in and quoted, that I have multiple programs that fail on xmls & m3u files with BOM enabled...
But admittedly, these programs *should* have no problem with either or, but they do. Equally shoddy as your programs that need encoding with BOM.
