Sorry, you're right. When I tested it before I didn't notice the difference between the dot and the tick.  :-X

By the way phred, you can use the Original Artist tag to replace your Covers by... playlists with Filters.
Though of course you may prefer to keep them next to your other playlists.
Thanks Zak. I do use the original artist tag for reference purposes, but I'm using the playlists (instead of filters) for syncing.
Download the latest MusicBee v3.5 or 3.6 patch from here.
Unzip into your MusicBee directory and overwrite existing files.

the command is now named "Include in Playlist"
ticking adds to the clicked playlist
and unticking removes from the clicked playlist

I'm not seeing auto-playlists in the list. Should they be incluced in the list?

I assume adding auto-playlists either puts too much of a load on MB and/or it takes too much time to scan.

This is useful, but I have many folders of playlists and it can become quite the journey through menus across the screen.

Could there be a separate entry in the context menu that shows only the playlists a clicked file is in, rather than having to navigate the entire structure each time?
