Hello, love this program. Would even pay for it if I could.

Anyway, I am running into a issue that only seems solvable via MusicBee. I see many MP3 players and now even my new car's stereo via USB input all have this firmware setting that is very annoying.

The albums play in the order the songs were added NOT by the meta tag track numbers or file numbers. Huge pain in the butt when you want to hear an album in the order it was made in.

My issue is I add a bunch of music at a time to my devices (usually flash cards) and some is copy but a lot is converting from FLAC. This seems to add them in a randomized order.

Is there a way to force MusicBee to send these file sequentially to my flash cards to force proper playback.

Thank you! Keep up the amazing program. Thanks for the Milk Drop addon too, was sorely missed.

P.S. just donated $20

Dave

When i have heard people say this in the past, its been solvable by naming the files starting with the track number or some sequential number.
There isnt a way to force MB to synch files in a particular order. You would need to copy the files one-by-one.

Man that's bad news. I do name all my files 01 - name and so on.

Part of it is that they convert at different times perhaps.

What's harder to believe is that all the firmware for these devices ignore the meta data ordering.

Doing this one album at a time is going to suck big time.

Try DriveSort that can change sort order of tracks on a FAT drive.

Hmmm, I need to understand what this firmware is analyzing. What do you mean by sort order? I would think it's looking at the timestamp?

My flash card shows the files sorted by name which are all 01, 02, etc.

Probably what you see is the app's default sort order by short filename. Change it to long filename (so you need to export music files from MB this way) and save. Then your car stereo will play it by that order.

Hi Steven, I think I have an idea. Can we set this to only encode or add one file at a time? I saw the encoding/transfer doing multiple files at once which is probably the issue if my files are FLAC and they are getting transcoded and transferred.

If this can be set to 1 file it will take longer but I don't care if they are in order.

Thanks

I think maximum encoding threads setting will do that: https://musicbee.fandom.com/wiki/Tools_%26_Converters#File_Converters
