High,

I'm wondering.

For instance:

TAG X in song 1 has tag 1, tag 2, tag 5.
in song 2 has tag 1, tag 3, tag 4
in song 3 has tag 1, tag 4
And I want to add tag 6 to all three songs.

Is there another way than doing this manually?

Thanks!

With additional tagging tools:  works!
Yet as far as I can see:  in two moves
(- if the destination tag is empty:  without comma (so, just the tag value, fi, 'tag5')
- if not:  with comma, so ', tag5')
Agree?

With tag inspector - which is, phiew, quite hidden...  especially becoz I'm not using the editing pane anymore for reasons that might be deduced from former posts, regarding clarity selected/playing and synchronizing...)

Still can't make it work...

Yes, I can add a tag to one song.
But if I select multiple songs, it adds too much.

For example.
I want to add tag5 to TAG1
- TAG1 in song1 has tag1, tag2
- TAG1 in song2 has tag3, tag4
I add tag5 to tag1, tag2.  Fine.
But then it adds '; tag1, tag2, tag5' to the other file (and the other way round, whether I have both clicked or only one)

Of course, I assume I'm missing something ;-)

In tag inspector, you have to use the + to add a new tag, rather than edit any existing ones.  give it the name of the tag (like "genre") and the value you want to add. It will be appended to any existing values in that tag for all selected files.

Got it now.
Thanks!

(I see it adds ';'.
I use comma's when I add tags.
Does it make any difference?)

Yes, MusicBee recognizes ; as a multi value separator. The values will be stored individually rather than as a single tag

Comma's worked fine for me...
(in other words:  they also worked as value seperator)

Unless it's for the Keywords field, that doesn't match what you're describing. With multiple values you should only see 1 value per line in the tag editor. Like this:

TAG: Value 1
TAG: Value 2
TAG: Value 3

If what you're seeing is TAG : Value 1, Value 2, Value 3 then it is not treating them as multiple value tags.

If you're still not sure, post a screenshot. Or I can, later tonight.

No, it's okay.  Sorry, misunderstanding.

I was not talking about the tag inspector, but about the editing pane/vertical tag editor (when I'm editing tags).

To anyone else stumbling upon this thread and looking how to achieve this, I have created an ASR preset for the Additional Tagging & Reporting Tools plugin that can do it:
