I have tried playing around with the sync settings to no avail, I keep getting the message that the data is invalid or the data supplied is of the wrong type. let me know if you need anything else from me. thanks

Wired or WiFi sync?

It might also help if you listed the steps you're taking in order to sync.

Download the latest MusicBee v3.5 or 3.6 patch from here.
Unzip into your MusicBee directory and overwrite existing files.
