I would love to switch to MusicBee but the lay out of the interface is still a mystery to me with all the panels. I mostly listen to classical music and then the first choice is the genre, then the composer, then the work (album) then the artists that perform the work and then the parts of the work. Also I have a different layout for pop music since the main search is the pop group.

In the image I have my ideal layout I now have in Winamp. Can I adapt Musicbee to this lay out and then have best of both worlds?

If so, is there anyone who can give me directions I have achieve this

Thanks in advance,

Cheers

Rudie

It may not be exactly the same, but I think you can achieve something very similar in MusicBee.

On the left in your screenshot, it looks like you have some library filters, Audio, Composer, Chamber Music, etc. You can configure the same thing in MusicBee by right clicking on Music in the left sidebar. Each filter can have its own layout, so as you say you can have different layouts for pop and classical.

The top part of the main panel there looks like a column browser, and then the tracks themselves are in track details view. The track information and playing tracks list shown across the top in your screenshot usually go in the right sidebar in MusicBee, and you would have just the player bar at the top. If you like the horizontal layout, you might try the Now Playing Bar, which appears at the bottom of the window rather than the top.

See https://musicbee.fandom.com/wiki/The_Anatomy_of_MusicBee for help setting it up. The only part that's not a panel you can find in the Arrange Panels dialog is the library filters. Those go in the left navigator, which is already there but may need to be changed to "show" rather than "auto-hide", so you always see it.

Hi psychoadept, thanks for your instructions. It helped me on my way. I am now working on creating a lay out that is suited to my needs. The one thing I have not mastered yet is creating different layouts for each filter. When I switch from Classical to Pop i have to switch manually the main window as well, is there a way to connet those?

Thanks for your help, I appreciate it.

You need to make custom views for your filters. Then you can right click on a filter to edit it, and set the specific view you want to use for that filter.
