Custom Billboard-like charts

Is it possible to make a list of top played tracks of the week, like BB hot 100, with title, artist, play count updated weekly? Can this be done with additional tagging and if so how? I can't find it anywhere but i'd love to have those stats.

Can't seem to find a way to show a list of songs with their playcount updated in the last week, and then sort by most played.

I don't think I can do this with smart playlists?

no, its impossible as mb stores play counts and last played date, but not history of plays.

Someone could write a plugin that captures all details of when each track is played in its own database. Its not something i have done because I think last.fm can fulfil that role better
