notification icon

Use to see the notification icon come up in the tabs bar quite regularly, telling about newly downloaded and unlistened podcasts.
But for some time now it hasn't been showing up.
Anybody else noticing this?
Or is it because I'm working on skins and re-starting MB a lot, so the icon doesn't get a chance to appear?

the current behavior is if any of the tabs have the left sidebar open then it doesnt show. Maybe its better if it always showed. I didnt want to have it so it only shows on tabs where the left sidebar is collapsed even though that might sound like it makes more sense because it means the icon shows and disappears as you change tabs

Ah hah!  That explains it.
I had left the navigator panel open in my Inbox tab (something I don't normally do).
As soon as I closed it, the icon appeared.
