Updated to MusicBee 3.1.6388 last week. I don't remember if "store ratings in music file" was on in previous versions, but I am going to say yes, because looking at my files in explorer they all have yellow stars that match to the MusicBee rating. Today I changed a few ratings on tracks and noticed the date modified changed.

Can anyone confirm this? Thanks.

I just tried rating tracks with both "store ratings in music file" and "don't update file modification time when saving tags" options enabled.
Strange thing is rating a track updates Date Modified displayed in MB, but it doesn't update the modification time of the actual file if you look at it with Windows explorer or other file managers.

Another thing I don't get is "1 file has been updated" message on the status bar when you're rating a track.
Shouldn't the message only appear when rating a track actually modifies the file?
But currently it appears, regardless of settings, if you rate a track by context menu. And it doesn't appear if you rate directly on the displayed rating column even when the file gets actually modified by settings. It's really confusing.

Thanks for checking! I also confirmed with Windows explorer and and another file manager. So this is a bug within MusicBee.

Yeah, I noticed if you rescan the file at that point, modification time displayed in MB returns to the previous time.

Can you explain about this message as I don't see any changes?

i only corrected the handling for the cached modification date. I have put in some handling now. I cannot change the wording due to translations needing to be updated

Sorry to resurrect an old thread but I'm having the same issue. Currently running 3.2.6760 on Windows 10 (x64) and when I store lyrics in my FLAC files, the file modification date changes for the actual files, even though I have the "don't update file modification date" option enabled.

Any way to correct this?

Thanks in advance.

I am not able to reproduce that, at least using the tag editor. How are you saving the lyrics?

I right-click on a song, go to Edit and search for lyrics and save.

(Is there a faster way to do this for entire albums?)

Thats working fine for me and i see no reason for it not to work.
Perhaps it was some other action you performed in MusicBee

Ok so is there a log I can check to fix this? How can I troubleshoot? I've now tried with various files and they all change their dates.

Edit: All my music files are on a network share on my NAS, if that helps.
