BT play/pause stops working after BT track skip

Hi, long time happy user, first time bug reporter.

I've just got the Platronics BeatBack Pro bluetooth headphones, which have built in media controls. When I start musicbee they all work fine, play/pause and even the sensors for telling when the earphones are no longer worn, and when they are worn again will stop and start the music. However, as soon as I either skip forward or back a track, this play/pause functionality no longer works until the musicbee player is restarted.

edit: forgot to mention the headset media buttons work fine in groove and vlc

Is this just one of those hardware specific foibles I shall just put up with, or is it possible to create a fix, or for me to try some changes at my end?
