Heya,
I've yet to come across a good audio check utility, i.e. for header/metadata as well as audio stream issues. The best of the mediocre ones (for my needs) I've found were foobar's file integrity checked (slow & a tad cumbersome...) as well as VUplayer's audioTester ( http://www.vuplayer.com/other.php ).
They both have their shortcomings though, as what I am looking for is reliable (in detecting issues, and so far everything I've tried detects different things to varying degrees but there's no silver bullet) & fast, as well as being able to feed it m3u playlist files directly or be script-able (preferably in python, but I would take bash as well if need be... :D).

Additional nice to haves would be able to detect up-sampled flacs from mp3 (if/when needed as an extra check, but I have yet to see anything that that does that half way reliably anyway...)

Would anyone happen to have recommendations for such ?

Cheers.
