have seen this on many skin previews, but don't know how to do this.

I understand that there is a lot more flexibility in the placement of various elements for the designer of bitmapped skins. I'm pretty sure it can't be done with non-bitmapped skings. Could it be that the previews you're looking at are bitmapped? Not that the end-user can change the location, but the designer can.
Download the latest MusicBee v3.5 or 3.6 patch from here.
Unzip into your MusicBee directory and overwrite existing files.

of course, they could be bitmap skins, just hoped that its some mb option.  :-\

right click on the player panel/ Panel Layout/ set the progress bar to top or bottom might give you what you want

no, Steven, i meant that i've seen <mb window>-wide equalizer above progress bar/payer controls on some skin previews. but it really seem to be defined by bitmap skin.

do you mean the spectrum visualiser? That can be docked to the bottom of the main panel or above the player controls panel using the panel arrangement dialog

yeah! thats what i mean! thanks, Steven. btw i've discovered very many new options in this dialog. its even strange how i've successfully localized it without looking at this window :)
