I have a real problem with music players not including a sort by directory name option. At least MB allows you to see the files in your drives locally.

But, a sort option to sort by directory structure in the main files panel would really be nice. In other words, if you clicked on the local directory "My Music Files" the Main files panel would show the directory structure. Then you could drill down into the directories as needed from the main panel. It's not essential, since you can see the directory structure on the tree itself under the "computer" panel. However, it would allow you to see any missing files the other sort options miss. In other words, allow MB to act as a file manager displaying the directory structure in the main files window, and that way we can see ALL files, artwork, etc, since other sort options will miss files with incorrect meta tags.

e.g., In the MB sort options "Artist" You might have "The Jimi Hedrix Experience" and "Jimi Hendrix" in meta tags, which would then split "Jimi Hendrix" into different locations on the list. Very disorganized! This is why we would put all "Hendrix" into ONE folder and use sub directories to organize albums, if needed. That way, no matter what messed up meta tags a file has, it's always categorized correctly using directory structure. So, allowing MB to use the operating system sort function would be a really great thing.

Here is the reason being able to sort by directory would be a good idea:

you can sort by <path>, just add it to columns in the track list view and left click on the column header.

Yes, correct, but path or URL is not an easy way to find a file.

e.g.,

C:\DWD-Folders\MAIN_FILES\What'sLeftOfMyMusic\UFO\filename.mp3

If we could "sort by" directory, then we could use all of the library sorting functions too.
