Generally loved the player, but the stuttering problem with an external usb drive, which no amount of buffer tinkering solved, proved insurmountable to me. Sad day.

there have been cases where buffering didnt help with a different issue (high disc activity) and switching the output from DirectSound to WASAPI in the player preferences fixes the issue, so you might try that

Will try that, but I've tried just about every player out there and this is the only one that I've ever had stutter.

you could also try disabling any vst, dsp or equaliser plugins you have enabled.
Also you might try whitelisting musicbee in any security software you are using - especially Avast which has the worst reputation for interferring with musicbee.

I'm thinking it was my bitdefender antivirus. It's been removed and so far so good.

Removing bitdefender didn't totally fix the problem. Moving my music to a non-usb connected drive did. Loving musicbee again!
