My music files are stored in my desktop computer which has a Plex server installed. In another room, I have a laptop and I would like to use it to stream my music from my desktop. Should I set up my laptop as a Plex client to do that? Is that what you recommend as the best option for streaming music?

I'm not sure that what I am about to report will help you, but here goes:

I have my music stored as FLAC files on an external HD, which is connected to a laptop that is located on the same shelf as my amplifiers, etc.  This laptop is running Windows 10 Professional.  MusicBee is loaded onto this laptop and streams my music from the HD to an external DAC.

I have a second laptop at my preferred listening position (PLP) in the center of the room.  This laptop is also running Windows 10.  I use Windows Remote Desktop to control my "Music" laptop via my PLP laptop.  Via Remote Desktop, I have complete access to my music files and I can control the MusicBee player to select files for playing, plus control the volume levels, etc.

Remote Desktop runs across my Home Wireless network.

Hope this helps.
