I wanted to do some small edits to WMP12.xmlc, but as far as I can tell it's compiled. Is the source available somewhere?

Bit-mapped skin files (*.xmlc) can not be edited by the end user.
Download the latest MusicBee v3.5 or 3.6 patch from here.
Unzip into your MusicBee directory and overwrite existing files.

I am aware, but there has to be source somewhere as they seem to be compiled with that Skin tool.

You should be able to find a thread for it on the skins forum.  If the author hasn't already posted the source, you can ask for it.  However, if you don't get a reply you're out of luck.

Hmm it appears you are right. There is indeed source here. I didn't know that bundled skins are made by users.
