For those of us who listen to classical or jazz, a composer field in the track data is essential. I just downloaded MusicBee and I don't see one. I need to be able to search for all music written by, for example Johann Christian Bach as opposed to Johann Sebastian Bach, or maybe all songs written by Jerome Kern. I have found that a lot of music manager programs don't have composer search. GraceNote, the universal track info database stores this info, but not all music manager programs implement it. If MusicBee hasn't implemented this, can I add it? Will it then work with GraceNote? Thanks for your help.

Yes there is one, right click on the track, edit tags and you see it in the first tags tab on top, right side. And if you miss a tag field, you can define your own custom tags in options/preferences.

If you want to display the composers in your library view, just right click on the top bar where you can see "title" and "artist", there you can choose additional tags to be shown.

Here are detailed informations: http://musicbee.wikia.com/wiki/Tagging

It's the first tab on the -left.-

Fortunately Composer is a tag supported by most tagging schemas.
Some examples of how to use MusicBee in case of classical can be found om my website.

If an internet database populates this tag, it will pop up in MusicBee.
A nice alternative for tagging classical is MusiCHI
