I'd like to see playlist track counts.  For GUI consistency, I envision this being presented in a manner similar to the podcast and inbox counts.  But in that case, the background box would have to change size dynamically.  If that's a problem, then perhaps the count could appear in parenthesis without a background.  Similar to the way SubSonic does it:

I think this has come up before.  I have done this manually for some static playlists, but it's impossible to keep up with in other cases.

Maybe this could be added as a feature of the playlist manager for 3.1.

it shouldnt be a problem for static playlists but i think it would be a problem for auto-playlists. Whats the reason this is needed?

I'd like it so I can easily see how many tracks are in each list.  The way I do it now is to select the playlist and then switch to Track Details view and look in the right status bar.

And since most of my playlists are auto-playlists, if it can't be accomplished for them, I'd say don't waste your time on this.  But that's just me.  Other users may still want static-only.

Thanks for the consideration.

Yes, it's a convenience factor. A quick check that doesn't require digging into the playlist to get the info.  Especially for playlists that require an action, it's like the inbox count

I don't know about this, as it will add unnecessary visual clutter in my eyes.   I am quite fond of having a clean look to my left panel.

Do you not use podcasts or the inbox?  Track counts appear for those nodes.

I imagine it would be optional anyway. (Actually, a per-playlist setting would be excellent, in my opinion)
