Rules for converting when syncing

Is there a way to copy music in a playlist to the device in the format it's in, and for everything else to be converted? Or is this a planned feature? I'd love to sync my favorite artists in flac and have everything else converted to AAC 320 to save space.

I don't know..but quite interest in this too...btw, if this can't do, some conversion free tool for audio or video, got some idea in minds?
