Author Topic: Weight shuffle for uniform playedCount  (Read 1619 times)

Hi folks.  Completely unimportant personal query in case there's a better solution.

I listen to music on shuffle every day - but it's typically a fresh start each morning (and sometimes multiple times a day as deleting a track from the playlist restarts).

With a couple of thousand tracks i have some with 10+ plays and a large chunk with none at all*.  This makes my playlist feel kinda same-y when it really shouldn't.  I can see some shuffle/random options but does anyone have any ideas how to try and encourage it to be a uniform play distribution?

I'm aware this is probably pretty niche - so just wondering if there's a cunning work around in the settings available! Currently I'm just non shuffling and ordering by playcount/song length as my own pseudo random :)

*Yeah yeah, it's too random for me xD

Have you experimented with the Auto DJ feature?  See the Wiki (it's a couple of sections down) http://musicbee.wikia.com/wiki/Playback
Download the latest MusicBee v3.5 or 3.6 patch from here.

You aren't the only one with this problem!  Just working on the same thing myself.  You can either make an auto playlist with play count restrictions (ie Play Count is 0 or Play Count is less than 3, etc), or you can use Auto-DJ with the same kind of rule.
