Hi Guys,

I have enjoyed Musicbee throughout many years of usage.
I recently reinstalled windows on my laptop and even since I cannot launch Musicbee.
I do not get a message it launches, It doesn't pop up.
Not even a crash report. I tried reinstalling it a few times but nothing seems to work.

Do you guys have any idea how to get Musicbee to launch on my laptop?

Greetings,

Sluyter

Welcome to the forum Sluyter

What windows version have you installed?
Did the installation of MusicBee seem to go well?
Do you have antivirus running, if so, which?

Thanks.

I am Using Windows 10, the latest release (no snapshots)
The installation seemed to be going pretty wel.
I had no signs of trouble.

The only antivirus I have running is the built-in Windows defender.

The strange thing is, I have exactly the same setup on my desktop (same windows version and programs) but I have no trouble running Musicbee on my desktop.

It seems that somehow Musicbee is having trouble understanding my laptop or something

I am running out of ideas.

Just to get the picture complete so others might have some other suggestions:

Did you use the installer, or the portable version?
Are you running everything on your laptop under the default user rights?
(not 'administrator' changes etc.)
Did you download a stable version from the official MusicBee website?

if MB fails to start you would expect to see a error message or worst case, notepad would open with the error dump
What you describe sounds like your security software is blocking MB.
If you look in the task manager you should be able to determine if MB is starting at all, even briefly

I can assure you MB is not starting at all

I can notice no instance running

I did of course use the official installer from the official site.

I am also installing it with no other weird things. I just execute the file

Have you checked the error log?  It would be in the AppData folder where MB is installed.  Look for ErrorLog.dat and open it with any text editor (such as notepad or notepad++.) See if anything in there relates to the time you tried to start it.  If so, copy and paste it here.
Download the latest MusicBee v3.5 or 3.6 patch from here.
Unzip into your MusicBee directory and overwrite existing files.

The Appdata folder has no folder dedicated to Musicbee (neither do the folders in the Appdata folder)

I have no idea what is causing this issue

And again, to be very certain:

You downloaded the stable installer from the website. You executed the installer, and then the following installation process seemed to be going well. Only at the end, when it asks something like 'do you want MusicBee to start, that is where it went wrong?

Only Musicbee never started :(

What security software do you use? Symptoms sound similar to the old Avast issues.
