renaming artist name makes you go back from beginning of artist list

I'm retagging a bunch of my music one by one and whenever I change the artist name, wherever I was at in the artist colum, it goes back to the beginning of the entire artist list instead of just going to the next artist in the list.  Anyone know if there is a workaround for this?

I've tried to reproduce what you're experiencing, but to me it doesn't work that way. It works just like it should and how you want it to work.
Can you give us Before+After screenshots, so we can see what's happening?
Also, the panel is sorted by which tag?

Assuming you're using the column browser, this is a known issue. It's as designed, but some people do feel it could be improved.
