Probably the fastest way is to select all files (shortcut ctrl-a), right click, choose rescan files.  You can also set rescan up with a button or hotkey.

Thank you, psychoadept,

Hmmm, but the new music files in the music folders not being scanned / in the library already would not be selected doing it that way, but they would be added to the library anyway?

And I have removed a music folder (it is not shown anymore in MusicBee) but its music files are displayed though. Why is that? How can I delete them from the library?

Where can I find the "rescan" option?

And how can one see the updating of the library is still running? The amount of scanned items obviously increases but I cannot find any display the process is still running.

Thanks again.

If your using v2.5, library rescan can be found:
Tools> Advanced> Rescan all files.

If your using v2.4, from memory, it's located here (I think):
Files> Library> Rescan files.
You have to select the option to re-scan files already in library.

Thank you.

I use the newest portable, stable MusicBee.

Sorry, I am not quite sure to understand.

Whatever I do rescan, rescan at startup etc. the amount of music files stays the same although I changed / added / removed the music folders? Why is it like that?

Thanks again.

The latest version of MusicBee is available here: http://musicbee.wikia.com/wiki/Latest_Update

The download page is actually a fairly old version, but Steven is waiting to officially release 2.5 until the 3.0 beta is further along.

Thank you for the link. That appears to be a beta version or something like that. The newest stable one seems to be this one: http://getmusicbee.com/download.html

And I want to use a portable version.

Oh, that means I use an old version? Do I understand it right, this version - http://musicbee.niblseed.com/V2_5/MusicBee_Exe_Patched.zip - is the newest stable, portable version?

It's just as stable as 2.4, and you can apply the patch to a portable version exactly the same way as the regular version.
