Synchronise Both Music & Playlists - Running out of Space

I've just switched to MusicBee from MediaMonkey, and I've got my library set up and am now trying to get my sync settings ironed out.

I'm syncing to a 5GB device, and my music library is much larger. I've selected "synchronise music" -> "fill device with random selection" AND "synchronise playlists" -> "selected playlists only" and selected one small playlist.

Now I would expect MusicBee to sync the playlist first, and then fill up the remaining space on the device with randomly selected tracks from my library.
What actually happens is that the entire playlist does not get synced, and the sync fails with "Copy Failed - There is not enough space on the disk." Not sure if that's the intended functionality, but the way it works (or doesn't) now just doesn't make sense to me.
