Author Topic: DSD files playing louder  (Read 1554 times)

I have noticed that all my DSD files (all DSF) are playing quite a bit louder (very noticeable) than my FLAC files.   To make sure it was not Replay Gain affecting the volume, I turned off that feature, and the volume difference is still there.

I could select all my DSD files and change the global volume setting in the tagging tool, but Tags are not support for DSF files yet.   And when Tags are supported, maybe Replay Gain will help.

Since tagging is not support, I cannot run the Music Analyzer (or whatever it is called) on these files either.   These files are tagged with RG values from JR.

Anyone else noticing this?

I think it has something to do with the digital filter being used to get the PCM signal from the PWM (1 bit - SigmaDelta) recorded in the DSD file.
Maybe this filter has a bit of extra gain.
