Sorry guys, I'm new to MusicBee, hence my question...

I have several files in M4A format (Mpeg-4 ?)
By default, MusicBee doesn't play them, citing corrupted or unknown format.

What can I do ?

Thanks

OK, I've followed the instructions and installed the Nero file to my Codecs folder. For the M4As of a file I'm adding, MusicBee shows them as errors with no information, though it plays them when I doubleclick on them. What have I missed?

I know it's a bit late in the day but I may well have found the easy solution to this pesky little problem.Following on from a suggestion from EKarcic I downloaded Tencoder and it didn't take too long to hit on the fix for corrupted M4a files which won't play in MusicBee.

Try this:

Load the M4a's into Tencoder.
Set the Audio codec to Direct Copy and the Video Codec to None.

Press Encode and when done the new copy should play in MB.

You can use the same settings with Mp4 files if you just want to extract the audio.

Hope this works for everyone

Not a good fix. It removes the album cover.👎🏻

If you posted to this old thread because you are having problems playing M4A's in MusicBee:

1.  If the files have the now-defunct Apple DRM protection they will not play properly;

2.  Otherwise, try this:  https://getmusicbee.com/forum/index.php?topic=23454.0
