Author Topic: Changing the definition of 'duplicate'  (Read 2824 times)

Hey guys,

I'm currently in the process of switching from iTunes to MusicBee and I'm having a problem with duplicates. MusicBee seems to consider two songs as duplicates if they have the same title and artist, even if they are on different albums, are different lengths etc. This means demos and old versions of songs are hidden when I'd actually like them in my library.

For example, I have 'Seven Years' by Saosin twice: from the EP 'Translating The Name' and from an old demo CD. I'd like to keep both versions but MusicBee only shows one.

Is there a way in MusicBee to specify what constitutes a duplicate so it leaves these songs in my library?

Thanks!

Welcome to the forum!

In the top left of the manage duplicates window you should be able to find a drop box where you can add album (or other tags) to the criteria for duplicates.

D'oh, not sure how I missed that. That's perfect, thanks!
