Hello All,

since i switched from Winamp several years ago, i really really miss the stylish and customizeable Spectrum Analyzer there.

I know that i can enable a big one in MusicBee Main Player layout, but it consumes a lot of space and it lags so much.
I wish there would be a better graphical Analyzer in MB's control bar with at least following features:
- low latency
- selectable bands resolution, e.g. 5 to 100
- selectable peak fall-off time
- 1px vertical resolution

like this here for example:

If anyone think in a same way just leave a plus.  :)

Thanks for any attention.

Ohh man, i feel you on this one!

Just switched from foobar, and it's the 1st thing i searched for lol. The rest tho, wow! So slick looking, so many skins right off the bat, lots of panel settings, lyrics... I could keep going on.

I'll be waiting :)

Okay, some time passed already since i've started this thread, but - I think it's still relevant and in terms of speed also an issue to "solve" - so I would like to bring it up once more again.

Independently of what I was written in the first post, what I still would like to point out is the comparable high latency of the MB Spectrum analyzer - the one build in the player controls, but more important - the dedicated spectrum analyzer element.

Especially the separate spectrum analyzer could still get some more love and attention in my opinion ;)
The following clip can give some impression of how the SA could work, especially in terms of speed and some little customization.

I still really look forward to see some change in MB therefore in future  :)  .

Greetings and a nice weekend to everyone.

I started a thread a while ago about using the Winamp "Classic Spectrum Analyzer" with MusicBee.  It didn't exactly take off discussion-wise, however I am still using it successfully at the bottom of my Track Information;  here is a GIF of it:

https://imgur.com/a/IKbW9FX

The latency is very low (adjustable), and it doesn't cause any problems with WASAPI like some visualizations do.  It can be resized, shown in main window, peaks on/off, peak rate fall, multiple bar sizes and styles, etc.  If you want to try it or have any suggestions/questions, please do post at the spectrum's thread here:

As you can see it does require a lot of ini file tweaking to get it set up but if I can do it it's no biggie.

Hello sveakul,

first of all - thank You for making the link to your thread - it's indeed a nice solution.  ;)
I already would like to apologize myself for not adding this post to your thread, because here in I would just continue to drive a discussion about the MB internal spectrum analyzer.

I've got running the visualizer-plug-in successfully ...

... so now let me list the pros and cons ...

pros:
- great customization options  :D
- very speedy  :)
- very low latency  :)
- low CPU load

cons:
- it's a plugin and therefore it prevents to get running a e.g. full-screen visualizer (like MilkDrop) on a further screen, if the spectrum itself usually should shown in a dedicated spectrum panel in the main window (quick switching isn't possible therefore)
- I was unable to resize the hight of the pannel  :-\ - Help is appreciated here
- it's impossible to get transparent background, like on the internal spectrum analyzer
- in my impression, (visual) plug-ins in general render MB to work unstable some how - I've got several random crashes on different actions (window resize, start/stop playing, switching tabs ...)

Finally, I think it would be awesome to see such a rich configurable SA implemented in MB someday.

Thank You again and greetings to everyone.

KangNi I'm glad you gave that plugin a try, you've done a great job with the setup by your screen shot, nice!  I see you've used the ReverseLeft option and the dual channel display for the "Mono" setting value.  And stuck with my fave blue bar theme 8)

While I use it only in the Track Information panel (not Main, etc) and haven't had any instability issues with it there with "gentle" window resizing, I hear ya about the tendency to "go fragile" for such Winamp DSP plugins in MusicBee once you start moving, resizing, etc.

Before I suggest moving any more discussion to the plugin's thread in Customizations/ChildBoards/Visualizers, just wanted to mention that FYI you can give it a real workout if you install it into a player that supports its GUI options window, which cannot be used in MusicBee (that DOES crash it).  I played with most of the adjustments that way, then examined the ini file, to get the starting points for trying them in MusicBee.
