Hey there Folks

After scanning the Wiki and forums I am stuck on the most simplest of tasks and cant find out how to just add music

When I set up my Library I did it via Itunes Import. So I now have one huge music folder all in my library.

However, in my downloads folder I have 2 albums I want to add, in Itunes when you add them it automatically moves them to your music folder and organizes them, but in Music Bee it doesn't seen to move them, simply links to them in their existing location

Help I know I am being thick and this simple task MUST be possible???

Edit> Preferences> Library> auto-organise media files

Note that files placed on a different drive won't be auto-organized. So you need to move or copy those files to the same drive before adding to your library.

As always, I'd recommend trying it first on a copy/subset of your collection so that you don't mess up all of your files while you're working it out.
Bee excellent to each other...

Cheers Guys

That works fine, I created a MusictoImport folder which is always scanned and the go in and then go out and appear in MusicBee :)

Well most do, if they are an MP3 the seem to stay there other file formats like FLAC and m4a go in no issue

Any idea?

Would you post screenshots of your (1) overall library settings, (2) auto-organization box setting, and (3) auto-sweep box setting?

Hey there, and firstly thank you for your responses, nice to be part of a community forum where people contribute.

As you asked I have attached some links to the screenshots you mention.

In MB's auto-organization setting "do not reorganize missing naming tags" option is by default ticked to prevent files being placed under bunch of "unknown"-named folders. As long as you have the option ticked, those files missing any of those tags won't be auto-organized.

Another thing is if you're gonna send new files directly to auto-organized library, do not use "auto-sweep" option. That's because it won't function correctly if you change auto-organization folder and template setting later though currently it's fine as the both settings use the same path and template.

You can also customize your file naming template: http://getmusicbee.com/forum/index.php?topic=10980.0
