Questions / Re: Playlist
Last post by boroda on Today at 06:06:23 PM   |  Started by Fox63
After my previous post, I remembered seeing an option (which I've never used, though):
in the auto-playlist edit dialog box, in the bottom left corner:
automatically export a static copy

Fox63, it's worth giving it a try, it could do the trick for you: pseudo-tag Playlist + static copies of your auto-playlists.

I've tried this before but it doesn't seem to do anything at all.
To be honest, I don't even understand what that command does.
it saves a .m2u static copy of auto-playlist to "<library folder>\Exported Playlists" folder on my pc. try to change "Exported Playlists\" to "Playlists\" in mb prefs> library> playlists. maybe these static exported playlists will be automatically added to your library.

Plugins / Re: 3DBee (Cover Flow) Plugin
Last post by boroda on Today at 04:37:45 PM   |  Started by BoringName

i think installation instructions would be simpler.

You're right. I was more worried about the 3DBee folder being copied to the right location. It has skin elements that need to be there for it to work and I don't think that can be automated from the "add plugin" button? If it can I will look into it.
"add plugin" button copies all files and folders from plugin .zip to one of 2 (depending on "installation type" of mb) "Plugins" folders. so "3DBee" folder placed to the root of plugin zip will be automatically copied to either %AppData%\MusicBee\Plugins\" or "<MusicBee App Folder>\Plugins\". you can get current "Plugins" folder using code:

Code
            string PluginsPath = Path.Combine(Application.StartupPath, "Plugins");
            if (!File.Exists(Path.Combine(PluginsPath, "mb_3DBee.dll")))
                PluginsPath = Path.Combine(MbApiInterface.Setting_GetPersistentStoragePath(), "Plugins");

and, then, get "3DBee" folder:

Code
            string PathTo3DBeeFolder = Path.Combine(PluginsPath , "3DBee");

But I agree, Musicbee is not intended to be used as a multi user app.
Exactly. I haven't tried it in a while, and I'm not going to invest any time in it now, but I did experiment with doing this many years ago.

Thanks for undertaking this project. I quick plain vanilla test shows it's working well. Now I need to play with the settings and find a good location for it.

At the moment I have three suggestions:

1- Include a readme file in 3DBee.zip. It's a pain in the butt to have to go back to the start post on the forum to check which settings do what. Just copy most of your start post and include that in the archive.

2- Give us an option to have it in a resizable floating panel. My MB layout is so tight right now that I'd have to give up something in order to make 3DBee a decent size.

3- Add a version number. Perhaps in the configure panel, or as part of the archive filename. I'm sure there are going to be updates in the future and have a version number makes it easier to track what a user is using.

I may have more comments/suggestions once I start experimenting with the various settings, but for now, nice job!

Yes, but two users can't be changing/updating tags at the same time.
I think they can as they do have separate libraries.
Only if they write tags at the same time to  the same file, a conflict will arise.
Wonder how often this will happen.
But I agree, Musicbee is not intended to be used as a multi user app.

the other PC won't reflect them until a refresh is done.
Agree.
I often update tags outside Musicbee. I have Musicbee set to monitor folders on startup.
Musicbee is pretty fast in detecting these changes.
One might decide to change this to permanent monitoring in case of shared audio files.

Plugins / Re: Additional Tagging & Reporting Tools

if you are manually copying presets from plugin .zip to ASR working folder ("<mb appdata>\asr presets\"), not using "install all"/"install new" buttons, then just open ASR and click "save all & close" to resave all presets in working folder using displayed names.
Perfect! Thank you.

This allows each user to have its own settings like playlist, panel layout, etc., etc.
Yes, but two users can't be changing/updating tags at the same time. And when one user makes changes to files in the library, the other PC won't reflect them until a refresh is done.
