Questions / Re: Correcting names

@hiccup: Not a hundred times! Just once. That is my point.
But nevermind. I give up trying to explain.
Really, you were all patient and helpful. I appreciate it.

Yes I can,
I could retrieve the composer list (very similar to the Sort Composer list in MusicBee) and by clicking on a faulty composer name entry I could edit it so that it merged with an already existing correct composer name.

Example: when in the list I encountered these two entries,
Moozart, Wolfgang Amadeus (1675-1791)
Mozart, Wolfgang Amadeus (1675-1791)
I only had to (long)click on the first one, erasing the superfluous "o" and click enter. All the erroneous entries would then be corrected, without having to look them up individually.

Thank you both,
I was thinking that the most advanced and sophisticated music player and organizer would have a smarter solution for this simple problem.
I remember JRiver could do it and I guess some other Music Managers too...
Anyway thanks again for your time and efforts.

Questions / Re: Correcting names

Thank you for your quick response.
And yes of course the Composer field was a default. I thought I had created it myself...  :-[

Thank you also for your renaming suggestion, but I've got over 2000 composers each of which of course appear multiple times in my collection. Following your method I would see an endless amount of for example Mozart... What I really would like is that I could edit a name just once (e.g. in the Sort Composer list) and that it would be corrected all over the place.

Questions / Correcting names
« on: August 17, 2022, 05:16:51 PM »
Hello everyone,
after quite some searching I can't seem to find what is perhaps a rather obvious method for correcting names.
I made a custom field "Composer". Is there a way to display the list of all the composers and correct (edit, rename) the wrong names so that they merge with the correct name already present in the list?
Thanks,
Bodtje

Questions / Indexes
« on: November 10, 2021, 05:07:18 PM »
Do you remember those first CDs with indexes within a track?
Can MusicBee detect indexes within tracks and skip to them, like we usually do with the tracks themselves nowadays?

Shouldn't you be able to put...

<Track#>. <Title>

...in the "Infer Tags from Filename" dialog?  Am I missing something obvious?

Well, that doesn't seem to work. Apparently the track number is assumed as being part of the Title.
So applying the template <Track#>. <Title> doesn't change anything in the Title tag, and the template <Title> does copies the whole filename (including track number) into the Title tag.

Thank you for your reply.
The track number is now the first part of the Filename.
When I use "Infer and Update Tag from Filename" the Track# is copied into the tag (see img https://ibb.co/SvyR7dR) even if I choose only <Title> as a template.

" />

I don't want to appear these track numbers in the title tag.

Questions / Tag Title from Filename
« on: August 16, 2021, 10:00:20 AM »
Hello everyone,
I would like to change the Title tag using the filename (Infer and Update Tags from Filename) but... in my filename the first characters refer to the Track# like this: "01. Title of the track - Artist - etc"
Can I leave out the Track# from the Title tag so that the result would be "Title of the track - Artist - etc"?
Thanks in advance for your precious help.

Questions / Rename/Correct tags
« on: June 07, 2021, 04:25:04 PM »
Hello,

I've been searching for some time but can't find a solution to this problem.
I've got a big classical music library and created some custom tags for it. Now some of these tags contain errors.
E.g. in my Conductor tag the same conductor Gerard Schwarz is sometimes written as Gerhard Schwarz.
Is it possible to correct this throughout my entire library without having to search for and select each erroneous tag?

Thanks in advance,
Bodtje

Questions / Import custom tags from JRiver Media Center
« on: June 06, 2021, 09:31:36 AM »
Hello everyone,

I recently switched from JRiver Media Center to MusicBee.
In MC I created some custom tags (orchestra, chorus, soloists, etc) for my classical music collection.
I already created my music library in MusicBee.
Is it possible to import these custom tags to MusicBee and how should I proceed?

Thanks in advance,
Bodtje
