Yes, that's done it. Thanks!

Yes, just done it.

After a bit more playing around, I've found that it's something to do with the Left Sidebar or the Navigator Panel having been shown. If I open the application with the Left Sidebar on auto-hide and change view without the Left Sidebar having been shown, then I get the unhandled exception. If I flick over to the left and expand the sidebar briefly, then there's no problem subsequently changing view.

4
I'm getting an unhandled exception when I first change the view in the main panel (Albums and Tracks, Artists, Album Covers, etc) after opening the application. This is happening whether I use a hotkey or the menu. It can be avoided by switching to a different Filter and then back again, after which, changing views causes no problems at all, but the problem returns next time the application is opened.

Here are the exception details:

Questions / Artist View hotkey quirk?
« on: June 13, 2016, 10:53:07 AM »
I've set up hotkeys to switch between the various View Panel layouts (i.e. Album & Tracks, Album Covers, Artists, Track Details). When I'm in the Artists view, I always want to group by Album Artists, and when I switch between views using the main panel's menu button, the Artist View seems to remember that I've grouped by Album Artist and all is well. When I use the hotkey to switch to Artist View, however, it defaults back to grouping by Artist, and I'd rather it didn't. Is there a setting I need to play with somewhere, am I doing something stupid, or is this the normal behaviour?

Thanks, that great!

As I've already gone back to v2.3, am I right in thinking that I need to reinstall v3 before copying the patch in?

Is there an easy way of installing v3 without replacing v2.3? That way I could do my play count synchronisation in v2.3 but still have all the UI benefits of v3.

Hi Steven,

Thanks for being prepared to make the changes, but is there any need for a minimum at all, considering that we actually have a preference that allows us to set one? The problem I have is that if I'm trying to run through a playlist that has, say 200 tracks in it, a 1 second minimum means it's going to take over three minutes, whereas with no minimum, I can flick through 3 or 4 tracks a second, so the 200 tracks would take about a minute.

I think I was using v2.3. There didn't appear to be a 5 second minimum in that. I just kept clicking the next track button as each new track started playing.

A lot of you are going to think I'm mad.

As well as the tracks I actually listed to in MusicBee, I also update the play counts and last played dates for tracks that I've listed to on my phone. This was relatively easy in the last version, I just loaded a playlist of what I'd listened to, set MusicBee to update play counts when more than 0% of the track had played, and then started the list playing and clicked 'next track' rapidly. It went through each track, increased the play count and updated the last time played. Very quick.

A couple of changes in the new version have made this painful, and rather than just switch back to the old version, I thought I'd ask if there was a way to achieve the same thing easily in version 3. The problems I'm having are because:

1) I used to open the Preferences dialog by pressing Ctrl-O, using the arrow keys to move down to the 'Now Playing' tab, then shift-Tab twice to move to the 'Play count +1: more than' box, entering 0, then pressing Enter. Unfortunately, with version 3, I can't shift-Tab to the Play Count box, and pressing Enter doesn't save and close the dialog, so now I'm having to use the mouse, which is much slower.

2) Even though I've set it to increase the play counts as soon as 0% of a track has been played, there now appears to be some kind of additonal minimum being applied that means I'm having to wait a while on each track, which makes the whole procedure painfully slow and not worth doing.

So, my questions: is there any chance that some or all of these particular changes will be undone, or is there a better way of getting the play counts and last time played fields updated for each track in a playlist? Or should I just switch back to the old version?

Sorry if this sounds mad, but I've got a huge collection of music and keeping on top of what I've listed to on my phone as well as on MusicBee is important to me.

Questions / Annoying new(?) limitation
« on: March 07, 2014, 05:43:57 PM »
I've just recently upgraded to version 2.3.5173 from v2.1.?  It used to be the case that when I grouped by Album Artist, I could double-click on an Album Artist to see their albums and then *switch between* 'Artwork' and 'Album and Tracks' views using the little drop-down menu next to the search box. This is something I (used to) do a lot and would very much still like to be able to do. But now it appears that I have to decided in advance by selecting the 'use Artwork layout to show albums for an artist' checkbox in the Artwork View Configuration.

I can't think of any good reason for locking us into one view or the other, and pulling up the views configuration dialog to switch can take several clicks, so is there some way of disabling this particular change? Or is there another (effortless) way of getting around this?

Questions / Re: MusicBee keeps moving my video files
« on: March 04, 2014, 04:20:57 PM »
Ah, mystery solved! The only WMVs I have are bonus tracks on standard (music) albums. When they're downloaded onto to my hard drive, MB picks them up and puts them in the Inbox. Once I've checked that all the tags are okay, I just right-click on the album thumbnail in Artwork view and send the whole thing (including the WMV) to the Music Library. I'll just have to remember to send the videos to the video library separately. Thanks guys.
