¡Thanks Steven!

I just hope you could keep in mind extend this feature (like more than one subheading, and the display in the left other fields that may have changed). I hope this don’t sound rude in english; it’s not meant that way: I know this could be too problematic, or too specific to my needs (or both), and I understand it.

You’ve made me very happy. Thank you again.

Oh, I’m sorry. I uploaded them to another server; hope they are showing properly now…

Hi. I like very much the ability to group the Album and Tracks view by a given tag. Currently, the behaviour implies that every grouping field means a new album. So, I propouse that an option exists to indicate that a given group doesn’t break an album, but is a tracklist heading. I’ll explain myself:

There are the SETSUBTITLE and the GROUPING tags that indicate a disc subtitle and a group of tracks in an album, respectively. When I try to make them show up in the library (in the Album and Tracks view settings), this will only shows them for the first track, so, I have them set in the grouping preferences. This however, shows me this

Including an option to make the GROUPING tag a tracklist heading instead of an album break, will move it from alongside the album cover to the tracklist like this

And something alike for the SETSUBTITLE:

It would be ideal that for every new heading, MB check if the tags for display in the left area are the same that those in the first, so it can display again those that differ (being album art or not).

For example, this is an album with an special edition (with bonus tracks and different cover).

And this is an album with the same cover but with tracks from a different edition (a japanese one).

And other with different cover and edition.

I hope not have been too redundant with the pictures, just not sure if the idea was clearly expressed (sorry for my english, by the way).

I think this may be implemented with a checkbox alongside the fields in the sorting/grouping settings (and maybe there a custom font option).

So, what do you think? Anyone also wanting something like this?

MusicBee Wishlist / Re-format tag’s when transfering files
« on: July 05, 2013, 05:28:22 PM »
I am very strict regarding to tagging in my music collection, and MusicBee has fulfilled my obsessions better than any other program I’ve tried. However, when it comes to a portable player, this is not the case: I’m using a Rockbox device (iPod classic) and it does not support many tags important to me, namely, the Setsubtite (or disc subtitle), the grouping, and the Origyear (origdate).

Consider this album http://www.discogs.com/Smashing-Pumpkins-Mellon-Collie-And-The-Infinite-Sadness/release/367739 My tags for track 1-02 are,

TITLE: Tonight, Tonight
ALBUM: Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness
SETSUBTITLE: Dawn to Dusk
Track: 2 of 14
Disc: 1 of 2

As Rockbox can’t read the setsubtitle tag, I would like an option to format the album tag to something like <Album>$IsNull(<Set Subtitle>,,[<Disc#>"]: "<Set Subtitle>) so it can be read “Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness [2]: Dawn to Dusk”

This would be useful also in the case of grouping. For example, Der Ring des Nibelungen  http://www.discogs.com/Richard-Wagner-G%C3%BCnther-Neuhold-Badische-Staatskapelle-Der-Ring-Des-Nibelungen/release/1981256 is divided in scenes, each of them being a grouping, so the tags for the 1-02 track in this case are

COMPOSER: Richard Wagner
ALBUM: Der Ring des Nibelungen
TITLE: Weia! Waga! Woge, Du Welle
GROUPING: Erste Szene

I’d like to format the title tag with $IsNull(<Grouping>,,<Disc#>": ")<Title> to be “Erste Szene: Weia! Waga! Woge, Du Welle” and the track 1-03 to be “Erste Szene: Hehe! Ihr Nicker!” and so on…

Also, to keep accurate info for my ripped cds, I tag them (via MusicBrainz Picard) with the information of its exact release, so, sometimes, for example for the Nevermind 20th anniversary edition www.discogs.com/Nirvana-Nevermind/release/3132592 the year is 2011 and the origyear in 1991. This is fine because MusicBrains show me both of them, but I don’t want Rockbox telling me that Nevermind is from 2011.

Well, those are my main concerns, maybe someone else had others of the sort.

Hi!

MusicBee already supports fanart.tv for downloading album art (right click in an album art area and choose "Search Internet" or "Search Internet for Picture."  I think it only finds cover art, though.

However, since you seem to have yours downloaded already, it's fairly easy to configure MusicBee to show that art.  I'm not an expert at this, not having done it this way myself, but I *believe* you would do this:

1. Go into Preferences > Tags (1) (http://images.wikia.com/musicbee/images/8/85/Preferences_Tags_1.png)
2. Check "link to original picture" (and uncheck embed in file, if you don't want that behavior)
3. Open "set retrieval filter" dialog, uncheck most of them, but check *.* and move it to the top (provided cdart.png is the only artwork in the folder - otherwise I'm not sure how you would point to it specifically).  Click Rescan Artwork.

Hopefully someone else can confirm or offer better advice.

Yes, I thought in go that way too; but that will imply that it will show the cdart instead of the albumart and not along with it. Besides, the spinning would be cool.

As CDs are slowly becoming a thing of a past, i think it would be a waste of time to support this if it doesn't work already as scampbll described. Just my opinion.

Well, that may be. But untill now, every album release is still getting a CD, and the CD art is one of the things I miss most from physical discs, and a significant part of the “album art” concept.

And I don't think that this would be a very time consuming task; neither for add it nor maintain it. But I might be wrong.

Hello! First of all: Thank you for this software. It is amazing and it has been my default media player since I discover it. I have a suggestion tho. (And sorry for my english).

I use XBMC in my HTPC, and I LOVE that you can see a picture of the physical disc when playing a song. The picture sould be named "cdart.png" and has to be in the same folder than the file being played. You can see an example here (image founded in google): http://blog.r-w-x.net/wp-content/uploads/2011/10/cdart-xbmc.png and the site http://fanart.tv/ has a very decent amount of them ready for download and has a API (in case you consider add automatic download) in http://fanart.tv/api-docs/music-api/ But I will be very happy to see support just for showing the image, for example, by making click on an icon below the artwork or have the option to see it in the player or in the playing now pannel.

I spent so much time adding a cdart.png to almost every album in my collection, and I will be very happy if this feature is added to MusicBee. Thank you again.
