MusicBee Wishlist / PLEASE Change the Way Synchronization is Handled
« on: July 31, 2023, 06:29:33 AM »
Currently, when I sync my FLAC master library to another folder via Musicbee Virtual Device, ANY CHANGE will cause the entire process to restart over from scratch.

For example: Sync from 400 album FLAC folder "Primary Music Library" to different folder for "Mobile Music". I have it set to convert all FLAC to OPUS. If I change "Mobile Music" to "Mobile Music Library", but 100% of the files are still there, it has to re-encode the ENTIRE LIBRARY. It has zero ability to actually scan and see if the files are the same.

Please use some sort of file scanning function to eliminate this problem, it's absurd re-encoding a 400 album library 5 times because of minor changes like this.

I did rename my opus library folder

To the best of my knowledge Musicbee looks at "date last modified" in source and target.
The rename might have updated the modified date.

Ouch, I assumed it was just looking at the hashes or something.

Questions / Sync to Virtual Folder is Trying to Replace My Entire Library
« on: January 26, 2023, 05:40:25 AM »
Simple enough issue: I have a master library of FLACs on my D drive, and a compressed library of OPUS files setup on my C drive, I have the folder on my C drive setup to sync such that all my FLACs get converted to Opus before being copied, everything else directly copies, same names and folder structure. This worked perfectly once.

Now, I added a few albums, deleted a few others, and retagged 2 albums in my master library, which I want to sync to my opus library, but instead of syncing it's just trying to re-encode literally the entire library.

Important note: I did rename my opus library folder on Windows, but then went back and changed the folder in musicbee to be exactly the same as the folder in Windows as it is currently named.

What's going on here?

Don't convert, use the sync option instead.

Excellent! I setup my C: Drive music folder as a virtual device, it seems to be doing exactly what I want it do.

Thank you!

Questions / How Can I Convert My Entire Library + Copy Art?
« on: January 22, 2023, 01:28:24 AM »
I have a big library full of FLACs, with perfect folder structure, perfect naming, one cover.jpg in every album folder.

I know Musicbee can convert music files, and have successfully converted a few albums from FLAC to Opus 96.

Problem: It copies the folder structure and naming convention perfectly, but it doesn't copy any album artwork.

Is there a way to copy the entire library, including folder structure, naming, and images, whilst converting all of the FLAC music files to OPUS?

More ideally, is there a way to do all of the above without doing lossy to lossy compression by accident on a few folders of mp3s that are inside my FLAC library?

I am open to using other software to do this, but in my search for software people told me to use musicbee.

Thanks
