Questions / How to get MusicBee customized like this?
« on: August 15, 2014, 08:18:43 AM »
I'm really bad at customizing MusicBee, but I did see someone's customization that I really liked.

Am using the default customization, could someone please tell me how to achieve this setup? The skin doesn't matter, just how to get it customized like that.

Do you the folders in the My Computer Node? Wouldn't that really slow down the system by dynamically changing it always. ?

MusicBee Wishlist / Loading Playlist through Hotkey
« on: September 07, 2013, 02:07:28 AM »
One thing I've constantly wanted, however, is innate functionality in the player to load up a playlist through a hotkey function.

For example, let's say I want to switch to some tense music while I'm playing a game, then back to calm stuff when the fighting dies down. With my dream player, I'd just hit Ctrl+F1 or something else, then Ctrl+F2. No mucking around with alt+tabbing, digging through my library, praying I haven't been shot to pieces while I've been out, and then getting my space jam on.

I tried fiddling with AutoHotkey, but that, unfortunately, ended up minimizing what I was doing when I used the keybind. A for effort, at least; it loaded the playlist fine.

Is there something like that out there? Is there a functionality in MB that helps me do this?

Is it possible to set Layout Views for each folder you select, or the playlists, so that you don't have to manually change them everytime? I need to set different layout views for different playlists/folders.

For instance in English songs, the Artist is given more importance, whereas in Hindi & Japanese songs, the Movie/Anime/Album is given more importance

Most computers these days have 4GB - 8GB+ so its just a tiny fraction.

This isn't true, because not everyone lives in the U.S or U.K.

I agree that the work involved will be too much, so there are many lightweight music players out there which will do for particular wishes of the people.

Edit - not really sure about that SRWare Iron app. Downloaded it and made the mistake of clicking on the update media player link [seems an obvious bad move, in hindsight, on my part but at the time I thought it was a browser extension]. Found myself trying to get out of installing all kinds of mods to the browser.  Also didn't find it helpful that the browser's blog is in German. The uninstall seems to have worked but it left the shortcuts on my desktop; so buyer beware & YMMV....

Not sure what you're talking about here, SRWare Iron is a browser that doesn't have the privacy intrusions that Chrome does. It's not an application. What's the update media player link you're talking about?

It's (English) homepage is here: http://www.srware.net/en/software_srware_iron.php

Questions / Comparison of Audio Player software
« on: May 28, 2013, 10:54:25 AM »
I was looking at the comparison charts at Wikipedia, and boy! MusicBee is just amazing compared to other music managers.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Comparison_of_audio_player_software

So am here to ask Steven if there are any changes to be made in the Wikipedia article, and also to look at certain features that's unavailable in the player, whether they will be implemented in the future.

The comparison page includes:

O.S requirement: Only Windows
Metadata ability: Perfect
Playlist ability: Perfect
Features: Video playback missing and No outbound streaming
Extended features: Perfect, except for no A-B repeat. Will this be implemented? [if someone wants to hear only a portion of the song for study]
Audio Format ability: Perfect, except for no lossy compression for Real Audio
Container Format ability: MP4 and Ogg only
Scalable, composite and emulation format abilities: NSF only
Protocol abilities: No RTSP and MMS
Optical media ability: "?" for DVD-Audio and HDCD

MusicBee Wishlist / Re: Small Artwork View Request

I think an option to only show the album count when you mouse over an artist would satisfy people looking for simplicity.  Same way that "..." pops up now.

+1. Great idea! As long as I get an option to have clean pictures, I don't care how it's displayed.

+1 to that again.......Although Steven's idea is good too

MusicBee Wishlist / Re: MB Interface Overhaul Ideas!
« on: November 16, 2012, 06:58:18 PM »
@xyzzy: That's a great suggestion. That's what I was looking for. Since MB uses .NET Framework for functionality, drag n drop style wouldn't be a pain to implement.  :)

@paq: I think only 1 or 2 skins have rounded buttons, but the skins didn't attract me. So I don't have a choice.
When I meant panels to be of different colors, the panes should be distinctly visible. For instance the Now Playing window should have a different color from the Main window, which is different from the Left sidebar and the Bottom controls. Yeah I know the neutral and multi colored skins achieve this to some extent, but the full potential isn't realized.

MusicBee Wishlist / MB Interface Overhaul Ideas!
« on: November 16, 2012, 06:24:19 AM »
1. One major request I'd like to put forward is to make MB interface elements to support drag n drop style. For instance dragging Now Playing window and Album art to the place you like.

2. Is it just me or someone who think that the interface of MB is pretty basic. For me, I'd like to have rounded buttons on the bottom bar, not typical square ones as the former looks more professional.

3. Choice of colors used in different panes can be more diverse that'll add to the beauty of the interface. That will make the panes more distinct. The colors should blend in perfectly though.

If you do have any better suggestions, list them here.
