Skins / Re: Dark bitmap theme for MusicBee with resources, xml, images, etc
« on: November 27, 2021, 08:31:36 PM »
Spectrum colors has been fixed.

Some other things you may want to take a look at:
(difficult to see icons, 'search' for playing tracks unreadable, gradient background for the Spectrum Visualiser, a bit hard and inconsistent green/blue colour for Spectrum Visualisations.

I was trying to change the png elements for the hard to see icons, which are somehow turning into black, couldn't figure out what's causing that. Do I have to create image for all of them?

Which codes controls the Playing Tracks search colors?

And while trying to repositioning the player panel Spectrum Visualizer, I was using
Code
<element id="Spectrum"
but resulting in errors.

1.
It's not necessary to have (and maintain) two different versions of your skin for auto-coloured and not auto-coloured versions.
If you have set PlayerAutoColor to 'true', then a user can decide for himself to use auto-colouring or not.

2.
If the player panel is set to display 'rating' but not 'loved', the rating stars get bumped into undesired territory.
(check the 'replacementElement id' elements at the bottom of your skin.xml file to make the necessary adjustments)

Thanks for the help, it's fixed now.

I separated the theme with auto-color because of different icons. Mouse hovering works much better in the auto color version.

Windows 10 Start Menu Shortcut Tile for MusicBee

Download page

Icon source: BallBee App Icon & Tiles for Win8/10

Instructions:
if MusicBee was installed in default directory, then put the content of the "Tile.zip" inside of- C:\Program Files (x86)\MusicBee\

If you're using Windows Store version of MusicBee then it's not going to work.

If you want to change the name of the png then edit MusicBee.VisualElementsManifest.xml

Skins / Re: How to change the size of the window buttons?
« on: November 27, 2021, 08:37:34 AM »
To other skinners interested in using larger Windows 10 style header bar buttons for close, minimise, maximise, restore:

Standard size buttons using Form....Button  (28x15)

Large size buttons using Form....Button2  (30x28)

It's not just the size of the buttons, the main issue is they're very densely placed together, unlike default windows 10 buttons.

Yeah you can adjust both of those (row padding and font size) in Preferences>Layout(1)...under "general".

For the "wider gap/separation", have you tried setting the row padding to expanded?
Concerning the size, you can try increasing the default font size...still under general.

Could be wrong but I don't think skins have any control over those two things.

I've already tried those, results weren't good unfortunately. The default view of list currently is pretty dense, it's very hard for me to read

How to make the playlist tab (or even the music tab) with wider gap/ separation, larger font?
Is it possible from the Edit Preferences > Layout? Or does it need new skin?

It will make the buttons fill the height of the titlebar. Why not try it out yourself?
I tried it, it doesn't change the actual size and position of the buttons. I was trying to make buttons clickable area much wide spread, like default windows buttons.

I'm pretty sure this can be done, and it's like this:

By default these buttons are sized 28x15.
Nowadays you can additionally add 30x28 sized images.

is this going to change the positioning of the buttons like windows explorer? Since, 30x28 is still much smaller than windows buttons

There's currently no way to do this.
Windows 10 uses 44x28px icons, but MB uses 30x28px.
As MB can place Tabs into the caption bar, Steven may have made the decision to make the icons slightly narrow to gain extra space there.

You would need to make a request to Steven to see if a change can be made.

Thanks for the response. By habit I'm clicking the wrong button for MusicBee, don't know if others are facing similar issues.

I'm trying to make MusicBee window minimize, close, etc. button wider, larger like default windows explorer buttons.
What can I edit to change it?

Nice work. Looks very good.

There is a typo in the BitmapTheme.xml at line 232.
<element id="PlayerFlat.ProgressButton" fg="Highligh2t" />

And I find the sidebar player controls hard to see.

Thank you very much! I just updated the theme. Sidebar control colors are improved

Similar to windows media player, is it possible to use undo-redo arrows on top of the playlist for the "list > undo changes" action?

Skins / Re: How can I change the Last.fm icon in the main player panel?
« on: November 25, 2021, 04:49:45 PM »
These border are defined by elements in the main skin file.

Thank you very much!

Is there anyway to change the positioning of minimize, maximize, close buttons much wider, like windows explorer? Does making the images larger will do that?

Make sure that all images that you use for the progress bar and button have the same height and dpi.
Thank you, that fixed it!

The borders colors aren't matching. MusicBee using different colors for the window borders, how can I fix it?
