TheaterMode / TM Resembling The "Now Playing Bar" Element/Panel
« on: December 17, 2021, 05:40:00 PM »
This Theater Mode is specifically for users who like using the Now Playing Bar, but would like to have some changes made.
It is meant to be a replicate of the original. So any changes/differences to the layout are not intended.
The only change I sought to make was the lyrics width (as a means to show you how it's one of the many changes that you can make with a TM of your own).

Here's a comparison of the two. The image on the lower half is what you currently have (MusicBee's default).

How To Apply
-Download the zipped file here.
-Extract the xml file to ...\MusicBee\Plugins\TheaterMode.Embeded
-Inside MusicBee, select the file from the "Theater Mode" list under the now playing bar  header menu.

Additional Information
-I have used a couple of virtual tags to represent some of the track information. More on this is commented out in the xml file.

@Hiccup...thanks a lot for this.

I've been attempting to recreate the "Now Playing Bar" element/panel using a theater mode...but there's just one thing I can't figure out.

Can somebody take a look and tell me what the lyrics and artist picture elements are anchored to?
They always move together when resizing the panel but it's honestly not clear to me who depends on who.
Also, at some point during the resizing (increasing panel size), their direction starts to reverse. I totally have no clue how that's been set up.

I would appreciate a brief description of how these two are set up to behave...
If what I'm asking isn't clear, please let me know so that I rephrase. Thanks.

Questions / Need Help Copying Synced Lyrics To USLT Tag
« on: December 13, 2021, 01:56:14 PM »
The android music player (Musicolet) that I'm currently using supports synchronized lyrics...but surprisingly does not seem to read/search them in the SYLT or TXXX/LYRICS  tag.
It does however display them when they're stored in the USLT tag.

So right now, I'm wondering if there's a simpler method that I can use to copy all my synced lyrics to their 'unsynced counterparts'...(SYLT tag -> USLT tag)
I've tried the AT&RT but I don't think it's able to do what I want.

Any suggestions? Thank you in advance.

MusicBee Wishlist / Custom Web Links
« on: December 08, 2021, 05:17:59 PM »
When I was using one of my custom web links today...I noticed that it does not work for titles containing "feat." (the full stop is the culprit)
To accommodate such titles, I replaced <title> with a virtual tag that removes the featured artists.

I myself rarely use the web links that come bundled with MB (Wikipedia,, YouTube & Song Facts)
But having noticed that "Song Facts" also leads to an error page when the title contains "feat.", I thought a report here would do and maybe an accommodation would be made for this link too.

Also not a pressing issue but I feel that<title>+<artist> would be preferred by most as opposed to just <artist> which I believe is currently used by MB.

I'm in the process of editing my (synchronized) lyrics so that they display smoothly in the Now Playing tab.
At the moment, long text that overlaps into a 2nd line kinda makes the display ugly.
I have a relatively small library. I don't mind doing this for the +-350 songs that I have.

Tips and Tricks / Remember This Before Deleting The Internal Cache Folder
« on: November 09, 2021, 01:20:30 AM »
Inside \MusicBee\AppData\InternalCache, there are cached album covers...artist backdrops, data and thumbs.
It is safe to remove those from time to time, since MB will just recreate them the next time you use the application.
But what you should also know is that when the subfolder 'ArtistData'  is removed, it takes with it all the changes/edits that you made to artist biographies.

A large number of my artist bios are edited (some of the web-retrieved are usually not enough for my liking).
I nearly learnt the hard way...fortunately, I hadn't emptied the bin by the time I discovered what was up (but I had backups too anyway).

I was wondering if it would be possible to have MB allow users to set conditions that would determine which element from a stack is to be displayed for the playing track. I imagine this to be a lot more smoother than having to manually switch between tabs.

Scenario: When a song without lyrics comes on, I prefer having the track info/detail element on display. Then for music with lyrics, I always want to see the lyrics element. So in my case, I would provide MB with the following condition:

if(playing track has synchronized lyrics)
        {display lyrics element}
else {display track information element}

I suppose I can survive with the manual clicking of tabs...but having MB provide me with the relevant element for the playing track would be priceless.

MusicBee Wishlist / Hotkey for 'Next Picture' in the Now Playing tab

I was wondering if we could get a hotkey for the 'Next Picture' function...if it's not too much trouble of course. Thanks in advance.
