So useless you always need to respond.

Skip over the point. Make it personal. Boring. Can't help but respond.

"Thanks for doing this, hiccup."
"Well spotted phred."

@slonopot: Actually one last request: Please add the readme with installation and activation steps back to the plugin page, along with the Github link to "read more". That would ensure anyone can get Beenius working easily, and you could still maintain the full documentation and configuration options on Github.
I've changed the description one more time to make sure even complete retards will end up reading up-to-date instructions on Github.
lol, thank you so much. I'll stop pestering you to deal with the peeps here. I'm also gone now.

@phred and @hiccup are literally trying to be QA testers. This forum is now officially hilarious.

Hey can you please guide how exactly i need to extract and the location in order to use use this plugin.

please help

They will not!

You can try to get in touch with them here: https://getmusicbee.com/forum/index.php?topic=36952.0, or just try new threads and click to the end and hope for the best!

Btw this plugin is broken, has been broken for 2 years. Anyone who visits this thread in hopes of getting the plugin to work should know not to spend any more time.

@belomeclone and anyone else interested in using Genius as their primary lyrics provider, I would highly recommend the new and vastly superior Beenius lyrics plugin:
https://getmusicbee.com/addons/plugins/453/beenius/

It's an up-to-date plugin that connects directly to Genius instead of parsing webpages, so there's no additional code file you have to manually install and keep-=up-to-date. You literally just install the plugin, select Beenius as your lyrics provider in Musicbee, and it works.

Awesome @slonopot, I just now installed your updates. I've been using the first version of this plugin you posted back in May all the time, and it's been working wonderfully for me, but now you addressed all of the issues I encountered and it' seems pretty much perfect. You even added the logging I had requested! (which I honestly thought you had brushed off ;)). I should have checked back sooner.

I strongly concur with everything you said in Reply #23 on July 11. Beenius isn't meant to be a universal replacement plugin for all use-cases, but it does work exactly as described. And in my case, though I have a grown a huge library of over 60k songs across several genres, Beenius has been consistently working for me. It works with the vast majority of my library, and what I love is that if I do come across any missing or incorrect lyrics, I can simply add them to Genius, and then the changes are immediately available via this plugin. So it's a really nice balance where I get to contribute to the community and engage with the lyrics more closely. And that seems to be the point of a lyrics plugin to me.

Anyway, Beenius is my favorite MusicBee plugin, both from a usability side and a technical side. Thanks very much. I'm hoping more people will notice it.

https://github.com/mbfrankz/LyricsReloaded/releases/tag/1.1.14/

Thanks very much, frankz, for figuring out how to build and release a package. I legitimately have appreciated your work. I've used it for years.
Any chance you would write up how you got it to build? I, and I think others, would be grateful.

Regardless, I would love updating the readme to just successfully building the plugin. It would really help.
I'm not sure exactly what you're asking here.

I basically make all of the changes
- then I go to Build->Build Solution (F6) in Visual Studio
- then I go to the folder where the dll gets written (\%ProjectFolder%\bin\Release\merged) and copy the dll to my own installation to make sure it works.
- If it does, I put it in a zip file.
- Then I commit the changes and sync them to github.
- Then I create a release in github and upload the zip file.
- Then I update the readme on github.
- Then I post a link in this thread and update the first post in this thread.
- Then I update the musicbee add-on site from the dashboard here.
- Then I wait for it to break again and hope someone who knows what they're doing takes it over.

Is that what you were asking?

frankz..
people, myself included, have been asking you to incorporate pull requests, and help build this package for what, nearly 2+ years?
You were resistant and seemed to agree that this project might not be worth saving. I agreed with you.
Now that you seem to be willing to help with this, can we just drop it and get together to build this project and improve it?

I feel bad for redirecting any attention away from this plugin.
None of what we said matters.

Highly recommend Beenius for a great lyrics plugin.

I was literally one of the people that tried to take it over and help fix it for the community.
I'm telling you it's broken.
Feel free to look at my post history.
I want to help, but  it's fucking hard.
Don't you think if it were truly broken more people would raising issues? It works for me. And many, many others.
No need to discuss it any further.

No, because no one uses it except forum members, and the forum members that use it are not developers.

You have a club where no one who downloads the plugin is able to get it to work unless they visit this forum.
People don't use MusicBee plugins because of the culture of this forum. Full stop.

Why on earth would you expect people to raise issues if they aren't even members of this forum?

I've actually tried developing for and against these plugins.
I've posted my analysis on the source code. You've done none of that.
Correct.

What have you contributed towards this, or any other plugin? What have you contributed towards any other plugins? Any other plugin? Have you coded anything?
No, I haven't. Because I don't pretend to be a developer.
Thanks, sorta think we're done here.

I've tried posting things I thought would help and I was reprimanded/attacked.

I responded each time. And each time there was pretense that I initiated the exchange. Then I responded, and responded.
Responses became continuations. It doesn't end, and it seems like it will never end.

There seems to be some pretense where I am the "troll". I have only defended myself and working plugins on this forum.
This forum seems to give a purpose to some. I've no issue with that. But this culture leads to worse plugins and is resistant to to new users.

The focus should be on users of MusicBee, not forum members.
It isn't as complicated as some make it out to be.

In case with my plugin it's not really a threat, Genius will have to either discontinue their Android app completely or limit APIs (which will be then overriden with using proper user authorization in the plugin).

I agree. I appreciate using this, and if some token issue occurs, it can be handled then.

My "job" as a moderator has nothing to do with supporting, or not supporting, any solutions. All comments I make are mine alone. I vocalize support for what I like and works for me. And I will also vocalize my feelings for things within MB that don't work.

As a fellow user of MB, I would like to suggest to you that you stop "bashing" plugins that you don't like. If you're going to be critical of someone else's work, you're free to come up with a better solution. But don't start posting that "longer-term solutions" are better unless you're able to create that longer-term solution yourself.

Well, not true:
Thanks for this, I think.
I wanted to give this a try, but you really need to provide more information. There should have some instructions as to how to install and use.
(...)
At this point I have uninstalled it from MB and deleted the files I copied to MB's plugin directory.
Furthermore, I can't recommend this to anyone, especially those who are using the Lyrics Reloaded (Updated) plugin, since I have no way of knowing if it even works.

You were, honestly, a jerk, and someone who sounds like your opinion is so important it makes or breaks new plugins. Hopefully it's clear you don't.

Edit: In terms of your weird accusations, see my other posts. You're a moderator that not only doesn't take it seriously, you're actively harmful.
