Questions / Where to find album sorting/grouping in settings file?
« on: April 03, 2022, 03:38:08 AM »
So I was messing around with the fields that define albums and put date added as one of the fields. This caused Musicbee to crash and it no longer launches at all. Just crashes right away I assume.

Since I don't want to make a new library/redo all my settings, I was wondering if I could find the location of these fields in the files and edit them manually? I checked the file in appdata, the config in the main folder, and the library settings file but couldn't find anything. Would really appreciate any help with this. And I'll try not to be this stupid again lol

Questions / Re: Embedding album art deletes all tags??

Here are the artworks in question:

https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1RClvWSraDwaeBX_GKM0i2QMB2AZbND_E?usp=sharing

I tried uploading to imgur but one of the files were too big.

I can also link the albums if you think they were the problem, but I tested and it happens on all my albums.

Let me know if I did anything wrong. Thanks!

The artwork was 2500x2500 and 8.7mb. I restored it by deleting the album from my library and copying it back in. All my music is in a separate folder and I copy them into a folder specifically managed by Musicbee, so in case anything happens, I always have the original files.

Later I also found another album with the same problem, and it also had a ridiculously large album artwork. (22mb)

I fixed both by embedding a smaller artwork. (I didn't have to delete and copy the album, all I had to do was embed another artwork)

Since everything is fixed now I am reluctant to go and change the artwork again but if you want me to test it, I can.

Thanks for the replies.

I deleted the album and re-added it to my library and this time tried embedding the same artwork, but smaller resolution and file size. And well, everything works and the tags are all there. I'm guessing the artwork I used was too big and it broke the files?

Edit: also yes the tags are there in tag inspector

Questions / Embedding album art deletes all tags??

EDIT: Turns out the problem was that the album art was too big. This is my first time encountering this problem so I don't know much but, I'm guessing that embedding a picture with a file size too high will break the files.
I read online that Flac supports up to 16mb max and my artwork was well below that but I guess it was still too big.

So I was organizing my music today when I discovered something really strange. I was trying to change the album artwork of one of my albums since it was a very low resolution image. I downloaded a high resolution version of the album cover and tried to embed the artwork. However, when I do this, it for some reason deletes all tag information.

For example, the tags are all normal and look right in Musicbee, but when looking at the files in the file explorer, the tags are all empty and won't let me edit them. I opened the files in Poweramp and the tag information was all missing as well.

If I do not embed the artwork, everything is fine. I do not know if this is a limitation or a bug but I just wanted to ask in case anyone else has come across this problem.

I can provide screenshots and files at request.
