searching by the 'album artist' field would also be useful for the album artist panel in musicbee.

Questions / Re: question about lyrics search
« on: September 08, 2021, 10:28:02 PM »
the way i discovered this was by doing the lyrics search via google (right-click on the lyrics panel>google search) for a track that returned no lyrics.  the resulting google search results page shows what it is being searched by ("artist" "track title") which includes additional artists and confuses the search.  i then remove the 'f/trent reznor', for example, from the search results and the lyrics are returned.  it sounds like it's not possible to edit that in musicbee directly - to change the fields used by the lyrics search from 'artist' to 'album artist' so the lyrics are returned.

despite the semantics of putting an 'artist' in the 'title' field, which is strange to me, the musicbee lyrics search will nonetheless fail to find the lyrics.  however, using the album artist as the search parameter for the lyrics, it works.  it might be worth changing the way it functions simply so it works better, regardless of the right/wrong/preferred ways to human eyes.  just my two cents.

Questions / question about lyrics search
« on: September 08, 2021, 08:49:49 PM »
I format my artist tag like so; 'queens of the stone age f/trent reznor', with the featured artist always included in the artist field following the 'f/'.

when using the lyrics panel the lyrics search seems to use this and often comes up empty handed as the format isn't very conducive to the lyrics search.

is there a way to configure the lyrics search to use album artist instead?  that makes more sense to me since artist tags can often use varying formats.

i think the same thing applies to the artist picture search that is used in the artist picture panel.

Would it be possible to add a command for the Musicbee toolbar that would locate the playing track in the Musicbee Library Explorer?   Currently, there is locate playing track at source, in library, and Windows Explorer.  Would be nice to have locate in Library Explorer, as that's the main tab I browse with.

Skins / Re: Sample Skin
« on: August 24, 2021, 01:34:40 PM »
I tried copying the string mentioned:

 <element id="FormBorderTopLeft">
        iVBORw0KGgoAAAANSUhEUgAAAAUAAAAcAQMAAACTeOf1AAAAA1BMVEU+ZYvrbzAKAAAAC0lEQVR4
        XmMgEwAAADgAARjE5tUAAAAASUVORK5CYII=
  </element>

as well as experimenting with things like:

<element id="FormBorderTopLeft" fg="155,155,155" />

etc, but it seems to make the entire skin fail to load and reverts back to the default.  For darkLIME, I'm trying to color the background of the button the same shade of lime the rest of the skin uses.  Any idea what that line might look like?

Thanks for your help.

sure - the first screenshot shows the 'azure' skin which has a unique color applied to just the background of the main menu/musicbee button.  the second screenshot is of the skin as i have it (an edited dark metro skin using "<root dependsOn="DarkLIME.xmlc">), with no background color applied.  i've only been able to color the text.

hiccup - any idea how to color the background of the menu button (the musicbee button)?  it's not colored in your sample skin, but is in included skins (such as the pastels).  i've been experimenting with tabsbar, captionbar, menubutton, etc. elements but just can't find it.

I downloaded hiccup's sample skin from here but haven't been able to find the element.  in that skin, it's not colored separately from the tab bar, while in older skins included with musicbee it is (such as the azure skin, which is xlmc based), so I'm wondering if this element was removed at some point.   I did experiment with captionbar and tabsbar elements as well, but could only change the color of the entire bar and not the button separately.

i'm using a custom xml file with <root dependsOn="DarkVIOLET.xmlc"> in it, so maybe there is something in the original xlmc that is overwriting anything i'm doing to the menubutton element.

Bug Reports / small visual bug with highlighting
« on: July 02, 2021, 08:55:25 PM »
a small visual inconsistency when selecting a track that has a highlight applied, it seems to change in width as it is selected/de-selected.  seems to only affect yellow or  colors with a certain border ?:

I have been having a very similar issue.  MusicBee doesn't always reflect changes to metadata, such as adding artwork, until doing a full rescan, or otherwise making a change to the file itself, or files within the same folder, triggering something.  At first I thought it was related to having files on an external drive, but even after moving them to an internal drive it persisted, then again on an entirely different machine.  It's caching the metadata but won't pick up changes for whatever reason.  I use an external tag editor.  Figured it was just me, but idk.

I have been using the 'Dark-Fine Tuned' Crimson.xml as a reference with this element to skin:

<element id="MenuButton.Default" bg="93,7,42" fg="200,200,200" bdr="93,7,42" />

However I implement this code into a skin I'm using, it only colors the actual text of the button (where it says 'Musicbee') and nothing else.  This element also seems to have no effect:

<element id="MenuButton.Border" bg="93,7,42" />

How can I color the background of this button?  I'd like to have default white text and the background color match that of the theme.

yes, sorry - scrolling with mouse wheel

Scrolling inside the artists and albums windows under Preferences>Sorting/Grouping/enable custom sort values... does not appear to function.
