MusicBee Wishlist / Devices: Store both synced and unsynced lyrics
« on: May 26, 2022, 10:38:46 PM »
Hello,
Currently when configuring sync settings for devices, in the 'Settings' bar, under the bottom 'lyrics storage' section, there are three radio options that manage how lyrics are handled.
(Note: when talking about synced and unsynced lyrics, I am strictly refering to how MusicBee recognizes lyrics in it's own library.)

The first option does not copy any lyrics.
The option 'embed lyrics into the music file' copies unsynced lyrics into the ID3 tag 'UNSYNCEDLYRICS' (in mp3tag). It discards synced lyrics completely.
The option 'copy to .lrc file' copies the synced lyrics into an .lrc file, and discards any unsynced lyrics completely.

Now, some of my files come with synced or unsynced lyrics, but never both. That means that currently, I either sync lyrics for songs with synced lyrics, or songs with unsynced lyrics. I'm guessing this could be easily solved by either adding two radio buttons + checkboxes like this:

O Do Not Copy Lyrics
O Copy Lyrics
        □ Embed unsynced lyrics into file
        □ Copy synced lyrics into .lrc file

Or maybe let MusicBee copy the .lrc file content into the UNSYNCEDLYRICS tag, since apps (including MusicBee) like BlackPlayer are smart enough to recognize and correctly interpret a .lrc format in the UNSYNCEDLYRICS tag field. Maybe add that as an extra option.

Or just make the 'copy to .lrc file' option inclusive with the second option.

Thanks,
Viktor.

I made sure my devices are set up properly on PC. Is it broken right now, or am I just missing something?
It's not broken right now and hasn't changed for some time.  If you made sure your devices are set up properly on the PC I'm not sure what you could be missing.

Usually this would mean it's not set up properly on the PC, but you've checked.  Strange.

Is "as configured in Musicbee" checked in the app?

Thanks for the reply. I eventually forgot about it and continued to use the wired syncing. Since then my PC have been restarted multiple times. I tried it again today and it worked straight away. Probably something with Windows and it's typical network issues  :D

Hello,
I stopped using the Wifi sync some time ago because it was really unreliable and slow with my weak wifi signal (it worked fine when I was near the router), now my situation with that has changed and I decided to set it up again. I sucessfully did the first time setup, but it looks like my songs aren't properly scanned/the Android app doesn't use naming preset from MusicBee on PC. It always starts copying all of the songs, instead of just those that are missing. I made sure my devices are set up properly on PC. Is it broken right now, or am I just missing something?

DEVICE: COL-L29
ANDROID 10
APP VERSION: 2.0.2

Really nice feature, I personally use BlackPlayerEX with it's custom library.

Hello,
I want to sync my music library with my Honor 10 using MB. My music library is located at 'C:/Users/vecto/Music'. the root folder of this path contains "unsorted" songs, which are songs I randomly downloaded, or singles that aren't featured on any album. Then there is a folder with Playlists, and a folder 'Albums & Folders'. In this folder I have my complete albums in their corresponding folder.

I'd like to sync exactly this folder structure to my phone. The path to my music libary in my phone is 'COL-L29/Internal Storage/Music'.

After syncing though, my "unsorted" files get copied to this location:
'COL-L29/Internal Storage/Music/Users/vecto/Music'

and my album folders from 'Albums & Folders' get copied to this path:
'COL-L29/Internal Storage/Music' [no 'Albums & Folders' folder was created].

It's kind of weird to me. Maybe it's just my bad folder structure that's causing this problem? I stumbled onto similiar problems on this forum, but all came to a dead end.
