Questions / Update paths option please
« on: March 03, 2022, 03:30:57 AM »
Hi

I think I asked this before but I need to ask again.  WHAT file does this info reside in for the Relink Music File Paths?  I've found a couple of .ini files but there is nothing in them about this.  Every time I want to redirect my older playlist to the new location I get this, below, filled in so I have to delete all of those filled in, useless paths so I can proceed.  It keeps me from really getting things done with rerouting these playlists as it's so annoying.

Every time I dismiss the panel and then bring it back up to put in some new edited paths those older paths are put back in EVERY SINGLE TIME

ANNOYING!

So it would be nice to know if there is a way to tell MusicBee to FORGET those paths and if not then an editable file to delete them once and for all

Thanks so much!

Richard

It's a link to download and look at the image.  I'm not having ANY luck with IMGUR using the Insert Image tool here!  AND the code here is really weird, I went to edit the post and it was all messed up and wouldn't let me save it so I had to Cancel, Copy the text and Delete the post and start over!  Grrrrrrrrr Here is the direct link to the image file from my IMGUR

Questions / Still not getting my paths corrected
« on: February 05, 2022, 02:38:25 AM »
So somewhere here on this forum I had an older post.  Can't find it so here I go again.....

I have a new computer.   The paths changed for the music folder slightly and so now Music Bee is giving me play errors.  I've tried all the tricks to get the paths changed one way or the other per playlist but it's not working out very well.  I botched things up all over again thinking that if I "Scan folders for new files" and "Relink Music File paths" all would be well.  NOPE, that just botched things up even more.

It's very odd though.  SOME of my playlists are linked correctly but about HALF are not and point to my old Dropbox folder where the music files are no longer living.  I think I suggested that it would be NICE if there were a Music Bee  update so one could drag and drop music from a new path and it would bring up a dialog asking if you want to update the file paths for the existing playlist rather than all this trouble.  I have music tagged a certain way, I have customized lyrics (because so many folks don't upload correct or truncated lyrics to the servers that Music Bee accesses) so all that will be lost if I give in and just kill and replace all the playlists that are not pointing to the correct folder.

I remember one member telling me this is a really complex program but all I use it for is kinda what iTunes is about but I love Music Bee because it has built in and editable lyrics panel and it's got a dark theme option as iTunes is bright white which hurts my eyes.  So I'd love to get this resolved.  If it's not resolvable then just tell me that and I'll bite the bullet and go through my playlists and kill all the ones not pointing correctly and start over I guess.

Thanks so much,
Richard

MusicBee Wishlist / Update paths option please
« on: January 12, 2022, 06:11:29 PM »
So I have a new computer and I had to change where allot of what I had on the old rig so the paths in the saved backup for MusicBee is annoying me to no ends here.  It would be nice if you could drag and drop  the songs to the playlist and have an option to update paths to the existing songs already in the playlist.

I've tried setting the path in the preferences but it's not fixing this issue for me.

Thank you
Richard

General Discussions / Need to back up fully, is there a way to do this?
« on: December 08, 2021, 09:34:20 PM »
Hi,

I have a new computer that just arrived today so now I'm saddled with backing up and all that good stuff.  I really would like to know how to FULLY back up Music Bee so when I install it on the new computer I can get all my settings back.

I have a customized layout that I like, I have MANY MANY songs that I've had to go out and get lyrics too that I would like to remain with the songs rather than starting that whole mess over again so those two things are the most important to me.

I have accessed MusicBee's directory in the User>Roaming but don't see any files there where I would hope to see a text document with added lyrics for songs so that has me a bit concerned.  I do see the programs prefs file so I think the layout will be fine.

Thanks for any help getting this all backed up properly

Questions / Moving over from iTunes... no way to enter lyrics?
« on: June 04, 2019, 05:11:39 PM »
Hi,

So far I really like the program.  BUT one thing I really like about iTunes is that if you right click you can select Song Info and there is a lyrics tab.  You have a check box that you can check and enter the lyrics yourself.  So when MusicBee imported all of my iTunes stuff if the lyrics are there I can not locate where they would be.  If that info was not imported in is there an area to have the lyrics I can access quickly?

Part of the reasoning for me wanting to make the switch are a couple of things... one is that iTunes insists on that white interface.  I'm older and like dark as it's easier on my eyes... secondly I got an email stating that Apple is retiring iTunes and have no plans to make an alternative for Windows when they release their trio of new apps for the MAC platform so that was that for me... I'm sure I can continue to use iTunes long after they do that but perhaps it's time for a change!   ;)

Thanks so much
