I have genres displayed in the left panel, and in the main centre panel I'm using the album art view. I also have the A-Z jump list enabled.

So, let's say that I click on "hip-hop" to display all of my hip-hop albums and then I click on "H" in the jump list to jump down to the albums beginning with H. That will automatically jump down 30 rows to my first hip-hop album where the artist begins with H, as intended.

However, if I then switch over to "R&B", the view will already be scrolled down 30 rows. As I have fewer R&B albums than hip-hop albums, that means I'm browsing the albums with artists that begin with S.

I don't know if this behaviour is intended, but I think it would be better if, when you switched genres, it put you back at the top of the album list.

It does indeed! Thanks, Steven.

Bug Reports / "Switch to Compact Player" bug
« on: October 24, 2016, 02:49:34 AM »
I'm using the latest beta. Here's the issue: -

1. Start the program in the regular full screen main player view.

2. Right-click the taskbar button and choose "Switch to Compact Player". It switches. All good so far.

3. Hit the maximise button to go back to full screen view.

Now when you right-click the taskbar button, you only get 2 view options: -

* Switch to Main Player
* Switch to Mini Player

So you're already in the main player view, and the option to switch to the compact view is missing.

If you choose "Switch to Main Player" nothing happens, as you're already in that view, and the right-click options remain the same - there's still no option to switch to compact player view.

The only way to get the "Switch to Compact Player" option back is to switch to the mini player view, then maximise that back to the full screen main player view.

Excellent, thanks again!

This bug is back in the latest beta.

I like that the auto-picked background is not a solid colour now, as I think this.....

looks a lot nicer than this in terms of the background.....

but I think a mix of the two would look best. Keep the old panel height (or keep the new height, but 8 tracks instead of 7 if that looks nicer), 8 tracks per column, and artwork that fills the space, but have the new background style. I think that would look good whether you use auto-colours or not and it's not increasing the panel height, but reducing the column/artwork size.

Before updating to the latest beta, the expandable panel that opens when you click on an album looked like this: -

So each column shows 8 tracks and the artwork fills the entire area.

After updating to the latest beta, it looks like this: -

Now each column shows 7 tracks instead of 8 and the artwork no longer fills the area.

I'm not sure if this is a bug or if it's by design, but if it's by design it seems wasteful to me. The expandable panel seems to be 10 pixels taller now, yet it shows fewer tracks per column and smaller artwork. I definitely preferred the way it looked before.

Excellent, thanks! :)

Yeah, it's an odd one for sure.

Here's my settings file: -

And I'm fine with running a debug version. Just let me know what I need to do. :)

I'm using the latest version of MusicBee 3.0.

The expected behaviour is that when I double-click a file that's associated with MusicBee, MusicBee will open and that file will start playing.

What sometimes happens is, I double-click a file, MusicBee opens, but it begins to play whatever is the last track I was playing the last time I closed MusicBee.

This doesn't always happen and I can't pinpoint the cause of it.

I love the MidnightMETRO skin, but, if possible, it would be nice if the track information text was the same colour as the font used for the list of tracks in "Playing tracks".

What you are seeing is the left sidebar, and it is doing that because it is set to auto-hide. You can change any settings related to the left sidebar from the "Configure Layout" button that should be near the top-right part of your MusicBee.

Thanks, I found the setting.

I have a n00b question about 3.0.

When I hover the mouse pointer over the left edge, this happens: -

How do I turn that off?

Questions / Re: Musicbee vs. Mediamonkey Throwdown (a comparison)
« on: January 28, 2016, 03:12:34 AM »
MediaMonkey was my favourite music player before I tried MusicBee.

What made me look elsewhere is that I'd been reporting bugs and asking for 1 or 2 features to be added for ages on their forums, but it felt like nobody was listening to me.

Every bug I've reported in MusicBee has been fixed and it usually takes no longer than a day or two, and Steven is open to implementing feature requests. For instance, when I first tried MusicBee, if you used album art view you couldn't double-click an album to play it - you had to click on a little "play" button - so I asked for that feature to be added and it was added in next to no time. That's the stuff that keeps me coming back, aside from the fact that it's clearly a well-designed and feature rich piece of software.
