I agree with what hiccup said. This is such a small use case (only one person requesting) that I can't see Steven spending any time on it. Especially since there are other ways to do what you're looking for.

Yeah, i get it, it's a bit too niche.
Trying to save as much time as possible while i dig to new music and prepare my dj sets.

The problem is that when I copy values (artist - title) from different sources (sites) to search for tracks, they use different variations for this

Of course it's not up to me. It will depend on your wish getting support and/or Steven thinking it is useful to implement.

For the mean time, are you familiar with AutoHotkey?
I think what you want can be done with a AHK script.
And I believe Ditto (a clipboard manager) also has the option to manipulate the contents of the clipboard.

Totally get that. I mean i can live without this (not for too long  :D)
Thank you for the suggestions. I will take a look on them.  ;)

32
My personal estimation is that the chance of this getting implemented is very slim.

Wouldn't it be better (and simpler) to just make all variations of feat./ft. in your library uniform?
That should be easy to do with the Search & Replace function.

Or you could create a virtual tag that transforms all variations into one and the same version, and then use that tag to perform  these kind of searches on.

Hi, thank you for the answer and the suggestions.

The problem here isn't my Library or the tags. I use a specific type of abbreviation for featuring artists.
The problem is that when I copy values (artist - title) from different sources (sites) to search for tracks, they use different variations for this for example, and every time I have to correct any input that needs adjustments to have all the tracks shown.

Bug Reports / Lag/Slow inline tag triggering and editing.
« on: April 09, 2023, 03:47:36 PM »
It's something that I'm facing since, well forever, but i just can't stand it anymore.
Triggering inline tag editing (double clicking on a tag) or even trying to trigger the edit tag panel is slow, also it's almost impossible to write anything because of the huge input lag while typing in normal speed.

Custom searches can use "all" or "any"  and "and" or "or" so you could set up the search with something like this:

Thank you for the answer.

Yes, I am aware of this. My mistake that i didn't specify that i was referring to the "normal" search.
The simplest way i can think of is to add an 'ignore text pattern' option.
Something similar to the picture below for example to ignore text patterns from searches.

35
Hi, is it possible to add the ability to set specific abbreviation like they are the same, for example "feat." "ft." etc, while searching?

Also, another nice addition would be symbols evasion, for example symbol like artist "-" title.

36
Playlists, both static and auto, can be automatically exported as a static playlist.

Right-click on the playlist (in the left sidebar navigator) > playlist settings (for static playlists) or Edit Auto-playlists > export a static copy.

You can set up the destination of the exported playlist from Preferences > Library > playlists > exported playlists.

Hi, Phred thanks for the answer.
I'm aware about this option but the problem is that i have almost a hundred auto-playlists within a folder that i want to export and it takes ages to edit them one by one.

37
HI, is it possible to add an option to export a static copy of all playlists, including auto-playlists, within a playlist folder?

Solution on the link posted by Steven.

if you are getting frequent out of memory errors then see:
https://getmusicbee.com/forum/index.php?topic=22778.0

also if you are running the UpnP plugin then that can cause this issue. Also older versions of the VST plugin, so update if using that.

Probably the huge library that i have is the guilty here.
I don't think so.

Just how large is your collection?
Tracks, albums, total file size.

There are reports of users with over 700,000 tracks and using 5gb not having any issues. Someone else with over a million tracks using almost 15,000gb.

1.6 million tracks, 302.104 albums, 22TB  :)

Mix of mp3s, Flacs and WAVs

Hi Steven.
Thanks for the help, the solution you have suggested above solves all the memory errors i was getting.

Thanks again.

Bug Reports / Re: Broken UI when i try to create an external playlist
« on: March 17, 2022, 12:58:53 PM »
Thanks for the additional information.

You can't select a format from the window showing in your screenshot. To select the exported playlist format: Preferences > Library > playlists > exported playlists > use the dropdown to try with different formats.

Thank you for the help.

Unfortanatelly, i've tried all the formats but there was no change.

This seems like a windows 11 bug. That dialog is a standard windows file save dialog.
I dont have windows 11 myself at the moment to see what is going on.
Make sure the "exported playlists" path in the Library preferences is a valid folder. The path used can be relative to where your library is located

Hi Steven.

You are probably correct, It seems like a Windows 11 bug, as long as i remember, i didn't face this problem while i was using Windows 10.
The export path is a valid one.

Just tested on Windows 10.
It work just fine.

What version of MB are you using? (Help > About)
How was MB installed? (Store, Installer, Portable)
What steps are you taking to export the playlist?
What playlist format are you exporting to?
Does this happen with all playlists or just a specific one?
If specific, does it happen every time you try to export it?

MusicBee v3.5.8109.36974D,  Win11, Installer.
Selecting random tracks in library, right click, add to playlist, external playlist. The same happens if i choose to export any playlist within the playlist tree-view.
As you can see, I can't choose the format, there is no option, but i believe it's m3u.
All.  :)

Hi, using CTRL+F or selecting "custom search" on search window is occurring an error.

Although it shows windows 10, i am on Windows 11.
