Trust me, I've tried everything I could find...

Haha, that makes it all even weirder. One might suspect that Samsung would even out the software between similar devices, but I must say I'm not surprised they didn't. I work in software development, and they tend to fiddle around with run-of-the-mill API's as well between devices of what I've heard. Ah well, you got lucky it seems. ;)

I've got 3 phones which worked untill they got updated to Android 10. One of them for instance is a OnePlus 6T. Do note that many Custom ROMs already fixed this, so if you are running one of those, you should indeed not need to do this. Also with my Samsung S8 it seems to work on and off, with every update being a surprise if it breaks anything. :P

Something else to consider is that if you apply that prefix, all Android 10 phones work. Also the ones who happen to not have the problem.

In Android 10 playlists do not work anymore. This is due to a change in how internal path are read.

Basically it comes down to prefixing every referenced music file with the string "/storage/emulated/0", as I stated here:

My suggestion would be to add an option to the playlist synchronisation menu where you can click a checkbox with something like "Device uses Android version 10 or higher".

Tips and Tricks / Fix invisible playlists for Android 10 phones
« on: April 18, 2020, 02:38:59 PM »
For Android 10 the internal addressing has been changed, so there are some manual steps needed to make them work again.

1. Connect your phone to the PC.

2. On your phone, click and hold the Play Music app (if you have that one installed), and click info. Force close the app.

3. Synchronize your playlists to the phone with MusicBee, choose M3U as playlist format.

4. In the meanwhile download and install NotePad++ on your PC.

5. Once the syncing is done, copy over the playlists from your phone (usually in /Internal Storage/Playlists) to your PC.

6. On your PC, open the playlist you want to fix in NotePad++.

7. Push the "Ctrl" + "F" buttons on your keyboard.

8. Here replace all the following instances of the stated path to prefix the string "/storage/emulated/0":

9. Safe the file.

10. Copy over the M3U file to the original on the phone and overwrite it.

11. If done right, your playlist will once again be recognized when you open your favourite music player. It might take a short while before the app has once again scanned the folder, so be patient.

MusicBee Wishlist / Change MTP device picture
« on: December 07, 2017, 12:31:04 PM »
I've searched the forum, but there is no mention how to change the iPod picture to something else. I would love to display a custom PNG file for every device I sync with it. Both because it looks cool, but also to organise different settings.

I hope this isn't too hard to implement? Thanks in advance!

/BTW: Been using Musicbee for over 7 years now and still loving the crap outta it! Keep it up!

Bug Reports / Re: Media Controls on keyboard don't work

Nothing wrong with the key binding (all default and active) and I don't see the syncing thing as to be a big problem. ;)

Bug Reports / Media Controls on keyboard don't work
« on: May 31, 2016, 03:14:50 PM »
Like the title gives away: the multimedia buttons on my Logitech Wave Keyboard (Y-UV90) doesn't do anything with musicbee. Also, the button configurator doesn't seem to recognize them. MPHC and Windows Media player do work. I'm using W10 x64 and the latest drivers as well as the latest patch of musicbee 3. BTW, I start musicbee as an administrator to have less problems syncing with my phone.

Plugins / Re: MusicBee Remote (Remote Control for Android)

For some reason putting all ports open in the plugin and filling the IP of my phone into the app works. Pretty unlogical, but hey, I've got my toy! Nice app btw, really makes my life feel a lot more gadget filled in a very good way.

Can someone help me with setting this up? I somehow can't connect to it.

A shame. But I understand that without anything to hold on to it would take a lot of your precious time.

Maybe someone wants to dive into how the following app is made to find out if there is something useable for a plugin?

MusicBee Wishlist / Chromecast Audio support
« on: October 16, 2015, 12:12:24 AM »
Pretty clear title I would think. Basically I would love to stream my classical music from my PC to the speakers on the other side of the room without cables or putting it on my phone which is full of other genres. Using a online-based streaming solution is less  tempting because of my slow and unreliable internet connection (old home plus low priority neighbourhood). Thanks in advance Steven or the enthousiastic plugin maker!

MusicBee Wishlist / Re: Any plans for a Linux/Mac port?

I did. That's why I came to this one. There was another one about Linux but it was seriously off topic. And since things have changed greatly considering Linux in recent months, I thought it would be nice to give it another go.

I'm sorry to bump this, but MusicBee would be a enormous succes on Linux because of it's logical UI and massive amount of functions. A combination that is very missed. Since the Linux community is largely populated by coders, would it be an idea to scout for a talent which can do it for you Steven? You can always look into the code and call it a day in the end. At the very worst it becomes a slow hog of a program which will not carry the name but may inspire others to make a decent media player for the OS group. There could even be a large chance of sponsors since large companies are increasing their investments in Linux. Maybe not something to do this very moment, but I'm drooling by the idea of you sending some emails on a rainy Sunday to a carefully selected coder and/or company.

(Also, it's very easy to make a dual boot with linux and since it runs well on slower hardware an dusted old computer will suffice.)
